Well, I think I *may* have had my first lucid experience. I'll talk about my history a bit first. Back when I was a kid I would on occasion become lucid in dreams but wake up soon after. When I got older, I started to read and research (thanks to sites like this) and I now know a little bit more and have done some of the practices to help myself have lucid dreams.
My sleeping habits have been a bit messed up the past few days. I only got about 3 hours of sleep 2 nights ago, and last night (this morning), (the night of what I think was lucid), I had woken up again early, after only a few hours of sleep and not much dreaming. I lied in bed for about another 3 hours (gasp!) until.... This is where my memory gets kind of cloudy. I don't remember this starting or ending, but for about 2 hours, I was in and out of what I think were some significant dreams. Significant how? Well, I was aware that I was dreaming! And I didn't wake up! I could make objects change shape just by looking at them! I could think about the outside world WHILE I was in a dream. I was in some familiar places (my room. across the street (i actually went out my window) and at one point reuinited with my (now dead) Golden Retriever in the rec room of the house I grew up in. At one point I was looking at myself in the mirror and it was very clearly myself, but my face was kind of shimmering and morphing. Kind of like being on Acid.
The most unusual part of this, I felt, was that I was waking up every little while from these lucid dreams, and returning effortlessly. I literally had to close my eyes for a few seconds and the visuals would start again. And I, for the first time, knew what it felt like to fall into a dream. The thing I remember most was a feeling of a rush of electricity going to my head. I remember at some points (either during, or going into a dream) that I felt extremely intese vibrations in just my head. I can recall actually being kind of nervous when I felt the vibrations so strongly, but I was still lucid so I didn't try to fight it. My memory is cloudy, but I'm pretty sure the vibrations happened around the time I was in my room (in the dream).
Eventually I woke up for good and couldn't return to the dreams easily anymore. I lied in bed for a while trying to sleep, and eventually I fell asleep again, and it was actually the same setting of one of the lucid dreams I had, but I was no longer lucid. I actually drempt about typing up this message, because I was thinking about doing that before I fell asleep. But aside from that, I was just dreaming about my normal stuff.
So I just have a few questions for the experts: what were the strong vibrations I was feeling? and the feeling of electricity going to my head? I recall being inside my room, and I don't recall having a body, considering I flew out the window. Possible OBE?
I always thought an out of body experience was just another form of dreaming, and I didn't think I had an OBE until I read about (just a few minutes ago) the feeling of overwhelming vibrations people get. And that gave me chills just reading it.
Anyway, thanks for your time. Any comments or advice appreciated.
