      Is it progress?

I have had two lucid dreams since I've started trying to have them. The first one I had lasted only a few seconds but I was so excited to have made some progress. In the dream I realized I was dreaming and I noticed a mirror in which my reflection was very noticeable. I began touching the glass to see if it had the same feel as it would in the waking life. Then I noticed a light switch on the wall and I began wondering if I could turn it on and off so I did so for the remainer of the dream. The second LD I had happened a few days later and like the first was very short. Once again, I realized I was in a dream and started observing my surroundings. I soon realized I was in my car with a Friend of mine and he kept showing me VHS movie boxes. I began pulling the tapes out of the box and reading them. There was nothing out of the orfonary just some random tapes. After fiddling with the boxes for a few short minutes I woke up and immediately recorded my second lucid dream. I was just wondering if these dreams were a sign of good progress and are there some tips I can try to take my LD's to the next step?

Good Work. That certainly is progress. Perhaps you should now try to focus on one item in the dream and not get too excited. Make a list of things you wish to do in a lucid dream and try to fulfill them. It will force your mind to increase the duration of them until you complete your task.
