Hi, I'm new to the forum.
For the last few months I've been interested and doing a lot of research and practicing on having a Lucid Dream.
Last night, I had my first LD.
I remember being in class, and I was talking to someone about lucid dreaming. I was looking at the poster on one of the walls, and closing my eyes, and looking at it again, to check to see if the words on the imageless poster would be the same. I looked a second time, and the words were different, so I checked again, and then I realized I was actually dreaming. I remember getting very excited, but told myself to control my emotions, because I didn't want to wake up. So, I decided at that moment that if I opened the door, one of my old crushes would be standing outside it, and I would see this person. As soon as I got to the door, I remember that it was getting hard to control the dream, and once I opened the door, I was in a hallway and had a strong urge to open one of the lockers, and I lost control of the dream and woke up.
Now, I do believe this was a lucid dream, because once I realized I was dreaming, I felt like I was now fully inserted into the dream. Not just a numb existance, I was actually there! If I wanted to look left, I could look left, and I wanted to get up and go out the door, and I could.
What are some ways I can practice on how to stay in control of the dream? I find it really hard, and unless I lucid dream again, I don't really know how I'd be able to practice. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
