My First Lucid Experience

Well, I am very new to the idea of lucid dreaming and also very interested in experiencing them myself. I have recently spent an extended period of time in a wilderness therapy program and during my stint I learned from an instructor about lucid dreaming. Shortly after my encounter with this instructor I experienced my first lucid dream. In my dream, I was sitting on a rock outcropping near the peak of a mountain. Suddenly I noticed a bird flying in front of me and as I admired it's grace in flight I saw a mountain lion coming down the ridge. The mountain lion attacked and ate the bird and then turned towards me. I was overwhelmingly firghtened and began to back away when the mountain lion came at me. I punched the animal in the nose and ran away. As I ran down the mountain with my pursuer hot on my trail I noticed other lions around me. I finally encountered a ledge where I was able to dodge the ferocious beasts and escape. After making my exit I eventually found myself standing on a road along the mountainside. It was at this moment that I realized that I was, in fact, dreaming. I immediately became extremely excited. I thought to myself "Kick ass, I'm dreaming, i should fly". I instantly sprang from the earth and blazed through the air. After around ten seconds of flying I decided to try to change the setting around me entirely. Upon my attempt to change my surrounding I found that my environment was slowly fading to black. I tried to fight my consciousness but to no avail. I woke up disappointed by invigorated as well. I was really excited to have experienced a lucid dream of my own. I found this site hoping to learn more about lucid dreaming and I hope to apply my new knowledge and become proficient in the art of lucid dreaming.

Damnit, Thats BS! I'm sick of hearing about people losing lucidity from thinking to hard! Whats up wit that? is it because everybody keeps saying that and we're all gettin pcyched out or is it an actual problem? I want proof damnit! PROOF!!!

LOL, Stick. I'm not entirely sure of the cause for my waking up but I was definately thinking very hard. I was extremeley concentrated on changing my surroundings and I believe the excessive brain activity caused me to wake up. The only way I believe you will get proof will be by thinking extremely hard the next time you have a lucid dream. Your post made me laugh though..

I don't know about thinking too hard, HOWEVER..... If you concentrate on a single object, it will have a drastic effect on your lucidity. You will either lose it entirely, or the scene will morph. It is best not to focus entirely on one thing, move your gaze from object to object, or at least take time to look at your hands if you feel it slipping away.

Oh all right. Thank you. I was concnetrated entirely on a certain situation that I wanted to manifest and then my dream faded away.
