      Where You Sleep

I have noticed when I am lucid or just my normal dreams are much more vivid and lucid in places I normally do not sleep at. I was just wondering if A) This is true for other people and B) If there was anyway you could actually use this to your advantage.

Hmmmm, very interesting question. I live in a hall of residence at University so i can't really test it out myself until holidays, but i'd be interested to see what other people say. Then i can test it when i'm home.

Razorback, I too feel that my LDs are more vivid/lucid when I'm somewhere else other than my bed.

I find that trying for a WILD other than the place I normally sleep lets my subconscious know that I'm serious in my attempt
and this does help with mind awake/body asleep.

When I want to WILD, I use the WBTB method waking up at 3:30 am and go to my living room couch to sleep.
Sleeping on the couch also ensures that I won't be disturbed by my husband's movement and occasional snoring.

Other than the LD's I had as a kid, that I can no longer remember, I think I've only had one LD at another person's house. But I haven't done much "sleeping over" lately without being intoxicated to the point of having to remember who's house I was at upon waking. LOL. However I've noticed that I have Really Vivid dreams when I'm away from home, and this is apparent even after deep, alcohol and smoke aided sleep. Anyway, I think it may have something to do with just the awareness of being away from home. Sort of the 'be conscious of your surroundings" instinct that we have. Many people sleep lighter in a situation that they are not completely "at Home" in, if you will. I think this translates to hightened awareness while asleep. I think that if you were asleep in someone elses house, and someone came up and shook you awake, you'd probably wake up faster than if you were asleep in your own home, comfortable and secure in your own bed, and someone were to try to get your attention. Of course, I could be wrong, but its just one way of looking at it.

Well, my two most realistic, and most controllable lucids were while I was away from my home. So, thats why I'm inquiring.
