Thread: A converted sceptic

Last night I had my first lucid dream. I just joined this site today (oct 13th) and have never attempted to have a lucid dream before. I was not even aware of what a lucid dream was untill I looked it up online today. I have never kept a dream journal or done anything to try an induce lucid dreams.
While dreaming last night, I looked into a mirror at my reflection. My face was clean shaven but in waking life I have a full beard. I turned from my reflection to speak with a friend. When I turned back to the mirror I now saw myself with a mustash and immediately noticed the sudden difference. I turned again to my friend and said look at my face, isnt it strange. I turned back to my reflection and now in addition to my new mustash I also had these intense side burns. I turned again to my friend looking for an answer, I didn't understand how this was happening. I turned again to my reflection and this time the hair of my face was growing so fast that I could actually see it happening. It was then that I realized that somthing wasn't right, that this wasn't possible. That's when it fully hit me. I was dreaming, and aware that I was dreaming. I said out loud at that point.."This is a d.d..d..d..dream". It was very hard for me to get the word dream out. I remember studdering while trying to say it. The feeling I was experiencing at that point was intense. It's hard for me to describe but I can say that I felt a surge of energy shooting down my spine, like when you get startled but without the fear. I grabbed ahold of the hand of my friend who was next to me and ran down the hall. I was still aware, fully aware, that I was dreaming. I was thinking that anything was possible. actually I had very little controll outside of my awareness. The consious awareness that I was dreaming left me around that time. It was a short lived experience but a fascinating one. I want to do it again. I want to learn how to make it happen. This is the most amazing discovery of my life. I am still baffled.

Great job having a lucid, you just opend a door in life you´ll never want to close, It is just so cool to have that first lucid, and yours is a funny one , you might want to read the main pages on the site to get more use of defenitions. Please do have a look at the great tutorials on the main site. You might find that a little help and experience is necessary for inducing lucid dreaming regularly.

As you learn about the subject, you'll see a lot of spiritually related ideas (shared dreaming, astral projection, out of body experiences, etc) espoused by some self proclaimed experts. Lucid dreaming, which you now know is REAL, tends to get lumped together with these other types of subjective phenomena. Just take it with a grain of salt, but keep an open mind. See what resonates with you as being true.

Learn some techniques for focusing on and maintaining lucidity. Then the real fun begins!

My thoughts exactly. It is as if you are in the real world, but you can do anything. And everything looks so real. I wish you luck hopefully your next LD will come sooner than mine took. Congrats and goodbye.

Once you have experienced a lucid dream, you will never be the same. It opens up so many questions that you may have thought were closed and answered.

It's a gift. It really is. So cherish it and work with it.

The dream world can be every bit as real as this world, if only for shorter periods of time. And you can do whatever you want there! YOU are the only limitation. You can hover, fly, design stuff, anything.

It takes training, but you obviously have what it takes. Think of what you can accomplish by training your mind and exerting your willpower!
