One of first my Lucid Dream Experiences and a few questions...

So about an hour ago, i woke up from my almost fully lucid dream. Definitely the most intense i've had in my lifetime. I kept a dream journal for a bit last summer and lucid dreamed a couple times for a few seconds but stopped as school came back. Oddly enough, today i took a nap after returning home from taking my mom to work(a little bit of a rude awakening), and before hand i had been watching fresh prince and talking to my friend elena about college roommates.

I closed my computer and fell asleep. I wake up, the clock isnt normal. There are a bunch of apples on a fruit tray and grease left overs on the counter in the kitchen. I eat an apple and as i finish i notice ants on the counter. I follow them to the opened back yard door. A black man with a dew rag approaches with a gun in his left hand. He says something like 'you know my deal' as if weve had prior experiences and ive seen him rob houses or kill before(he mightve been in a past dream of mine). I run to my room and grab a knife which happens to be in the living room on the way instead of the kitchen where they normally are. I get in my room, put the knife behind my back and wait for him to enter. I see him in the wife beater and long gym pants, but as soon as he enters he changes appearnace. Hes wearing a suit and has a more wise face with hair somewhat similar to will smith. I then stab him in the back and throw him on the floor outside of my room(to keep blood off of my carpet). He twitches. But is now in the living room magically. I stab him in the anus and the knife end is covered in shit which has been altered to "dream shit". The tip of the blade breaks off. I drag him to the kitchen and slit his throat to be sure he is dead. I gloated for a second, saying "dont fuck with me, etc." Thats when i realized i was dreaming. I walk to the door and look outside. Theres a family from across the street with a dog. The father(who looks more fat and older than the one in reality) asks me for some tuna fish, to which i respond we have none. Im not a fan. I use my manners and say ill let him know if we get any. Strangely enough, every time i go outside there is a loud omniscient voice saying things i either dont pay attention to or cant make out from lack of clarity, like an announcer at a baseball game. I go back inside and see the man still on the floor. I try to make misha(my girlfriend) appear by focusing at the door. First i try teleporting to her house(or possibly having it teleported to me). I close my eyes, turn around and jump. That doesnt work. I settle for her appearing by the door and really try to focus again. That doesnt work either. I do notice my fingers are odd when i look at them to be sure im still dreaming. When I looked up, the setting outside had changed, there is a different car outside. One of those box shaped ones that are metallic colors and weird looking. I wake up. The clock is sliding from
Left to right with different info. (Usually my clock is just a digital display of the time). Thought i was awake. Realized I was still dreaming with another hand check. Hangers are rainbow colors as i walk by my closet and i notice patterns of colors in other places(specifically red and green). "how do i get myself out of this twisted reality?" i contemplate killing myself but dont have the balls, but i wanted to wake up at this point. I go to the door and see there are papers with text about me. Some are from elena and about zac efrons younger brother. We had just been talking about that before i passed out. Another was from francis(co-counselor of mine from the camp i work at). He turned up outside instatnly about to seemingly have sex with my dream version of misha, she looked completely different(long red hair, hazel eyes, somewhat pale skin, tall, older, and still attractive) but i knew it was her. In reality she's of medium height, tan and sort of long blonde hair with blue eyes. I didn't seem to care as much about what was going on for some reason. I just ignored it almost. Which is totally not me. In reality, I'm the super jealous type and would flip a shit. I turned away however, and I wondered if id be good at music in dreams(music is my passion in reality) and saw a piano and guitar nearby. I woke up after that.
At some point in the dream, i looked in the kitchen and saw jaelin(random friend) hanging over the fridge and thought she was dead. She was fine, chillin with her dream version mom.

So my questions are. Why when i tried to make things happen didnt they appear before my eyes like i wanted? How can i get better control of my desires within my lucid dreams?

Also, what is the deal with the loud voices every time i go outside?

What might be the purpose of the person trying to rob my house that i had to kill?

Why didn't i get upset with my good friend francis? I should've been furious!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      1) Dream control will get better with experience but the main thing is to thoroughly visualize what you want to happen and make it happen. If you want your friend to appear you have to completely picture how they look, what clothes are they wearing, their hairstyle, as well as who they are, their personality, whether they're nice, mean, annoying, or dull. Imagine them standing behind you talking to someone or doing something, anything to make them more likely to be there. This will get easier as you get more experience but this is the best way to start.

      2) This is just something your mind does, apparently. If you want to you can make it go away once you get better at dream control or even change what it talks about.

      3) He's a random dream character that wanted to break into your house. There's a lot more depth that I could go into about theories and the purpose of dreams but this is the simplest and easiest explanation to understand.

      4) It was a dream and you were not 100% lucid, though still enough to make it seem as though you are aware. This was probably for the best, though, since if you get too emotional it can cause the dream to become unstable and possibly end. Besides, it's just a dream, it's all in your head.

If you want me to go into more detail with #3 just ask .

I am a bit curious about number three. My cousin told me that there is a theory that characters like that are outside spirits that try to enter your dreams sometimes that manifest themselves in ways such as that. He recommended me getting a dream catcher, so i guess im just curious if i should do something like that or if it was something entirely different.

Well there are some theories that dream characters are outside entities that manifest themselves in your dreams. They say that dream characters are beings from other dimensions which can only interact with you while you are dreaming. If this is true then it was likely and angry or vengeful spirit.

However the one I was getting at was that dreams serve as a way for you to prepare for future, possible life-threatening events, in this case a home robbery. Your brain understands that one of the dangers in life is a home invasion, or somebody coming at you with a weapon. It then takes this and manifests it as a dream character who is robbing your house with a weapon. Normally you would not be lucid and you would either figure out a way to survive or, if you died, you would likely just wake up. You were lucid, however, so you just confronted him head on which, while it may not have been the best approach, worked in this instance.

Another theory is that dreams are your brain's way of dealing with emotions and fears. You may be afraid of somebody robbing your house so your brain takes this and puts you in the situation in a safe environment, a dream.

These are all just theories and there is no answer to why we dream or whether or not certain dream characters and events symbolize something. As we understand more about the brain I'm sure we will be able to better understand these events and what they could mean, if anything.

That makes a whole lot of sense. This isn't actually the first time I've dreamed about my house being broken into; however, it is the first time I reacted with lucidity. Just last week a had a dream where i had driven somewhere and forgot something at my house and went back to find the door to the house open and I smashed the robber into the wall with the door he was hiding behind. I am generally paranoid about keeping things locked or with supervision at all times, so that sounds like a perfect explanation.

Thanks for all the help by the way!
One last thing, do you at all believe in the outside spirits manifesting themselves in your dreams?
