      WILD experience

Ok so since joining DV this would be my 2nd successful/semi-successful WILD.

I layed down for a nap this morning while watching TV and since I have trouble initially relaxing I just decided to try and fall asleep normally without attempting to WILD. I naturally wake up wether I am taking naps or sleeping at night, so of course, I did. I find it way easier to WILD after waking up just because I am way more relaxed and sleepy already. Anyway, so I wake up and decide to give it a try. This attempt is way different than my other attempts and ill explain why...

My only other successful WILD lasted a short amount of time, but it's as if I just slipped away to sleep and was in the dream. This attempt, on the other hand, was as if I never actually was fully asleep. I layed back and closed my eyes, and felt my mind start to wonder. So I just went with it and tried to stay focused. This is where it gets bizarre. Suddenly I feel some sort of splash of "energy" and my imagery behind my eyes starts getting intense. It's like crazy swirls and colors but they arent forming any patterns. They are just mixed and everywhere. Then I start to see an image form of a field with trees around it. The sun is out but partially blocked by the clouds. I think to myself, ill focus on this image and try to make it more vivid. But as I try this, the image starts coming in and out of focus and all of a sudden Im sitting in front of a computer screen. The lights are off around the screen but I can see a message that says "You have 1 New Message". I notice that it is blurry but I can make it out. I tried to stabilize by rubbing my hands together (I could actually see my hands as I brought them in front of my face and rubbed them), but it did not work. Then I tried to stand up, but it was as if I could feel my sleeping body getting up as well so I just thought I wasnt deep enough, then I opened my eyes. But when my eyes opened, I hadn't actually moved. Keep in mind that during this entire experience I can still here my TV show in the background. This made me think that I was not yet fully asleep and maybe all of this was only HI/HH?

Were these all hallucinations or was I actually inside the dream for a minute? Only at the point where I rubbed my hands together did I feel a sense of having a body....so Im a bit confused.

But like I said before, I went from lying there, to seeing intense colors, then an image of a field with trees, then to the computer screen. My question is also, should I have waited longer before trying to form a dream scene?

      Feedback would be wonderful

Great job! I'd call that a successful WILD. The intense colors were the hallucinations associated with sleep paralysis, and the image of the field with trees was the beggining of your dream scene. If you had continued you would've landed right in that field and the dream would've began.

What you want to try to do next time is, when you start feeling your body, picture the dream scene even more. Focus on the details around you, and slowly your awareness of your body will fade and you will sink deeper into your dream world.

To answer your other question, you were falling asleep but still felt your body and heard the tv show in the background. You were half and half into being asleep and awake. A great start, just keep at it man

      Good luck!
