Hello all...

I've had a few lucid experiences before but have become slightly panicked by the transition, despite a little flying, diving and bouncing around on the sand as if it were a trampoline... But before I had only ever been to one place - a beach in Vietnam I recently spent time at - and I couldn't really 'go' anywhere else. Either that or it was kind of a meditative void that I'd used to induce lucidity, but I was trapped there in the starscape.

Last night I had my first properly lucid scenario dream where I didn't have to navigate the same beach (or the night sky). It was short but felt quite amazing.

I was by an icy river with my whole family having a barbecue (something we never do, so I knew instantly it was a dream and became lucid). My 2 year old niece had crawled onto the ice of the river and people became very panicked about the ice breaking. I recall thinking very clearly 'this is a dream. You can save her' as the ice began to crack. And then I flew across the ice, scooped her up and took her back to the river bank. I got a little emotional (happy) because everyone was patting me on the back and congratulating me, and woke up almost instantly.

It feels a little like my subconscious was offering me the chance to feel extremely good about myself. And I woke up pretty cheerful, so job done.

Maybe we need to lucid dream so we can experience overcoming what would ordinarily be an anxiety dream and wake up refreshed rather than agitated...
