From what I know you cant litterally dream within a dream, it was most likely a false awakening, where the dream scene changed to your room, you thought you was awake, only to wake up after. Sounds like a dild to me. congratulations hope you have lots more

I had a similar experience, actually. Where it really felt like in DREAM1 I fall asleep and have a lucid dream, and wake up in DREAM1 again. Meaning, the story in DREAM1 continued after my lucid "dream within a dream" effect.

I still can't figure out what that meant or how it happened. In the dream, I had an operation, and as I was being sedated I transitioned into another dream (as if I had this second dream while under sedation in the first dream) and knew I was dreaming, but when I woke back up from the sedation into dream one, the setting, environment and dream characters were still the same as before I was sedated..

If your subconsciousness decides to stay with it, it is possible to have a dream within a dream, just like MissLucy described for example. Thus it is also possible to WILD within a dream. However it still would be more of a DILD because even though you WILDed you were dreaming and thus sleeping already, you lost your consciousness before already. And the point of WILD is avoiding that. Making the WILD within the dream more like a dream sign or an obvious hint.

..wow, so it IS possible, I knew it. I just keep wondering why I was only lucid in the "2nd level" dream, and not the main dream?

Yeah, I didn't have a WILD yet as well, but I'm determined to soon have one. You might consider doing something like this if you're serious: http://www.dreamviews.com/f32/new-90...thread-124986/

Well that is answered pretty easy, dreams work different for everyone, I for example always hear people report false awakenings, and even though I have pretty good recall and a few lucids I didn't have even one FA yet. What that tells in this case is that you are or have at least been that moment "configured" to emulate the dream within the dream realistically. Thus including all kinds of necessery stuff to make it realistic, falling asleep, having a dream, and waking up though still inside of the first dream.
That is just one possibility though, I WILDed once in one of my dreams, I didn't knew that I was dreaming before and even though I didn't make it I felt I cam closer than ever before. Yet even though I feel asleep within the dream the next time I woke up I was awake for real. It's really mostly about what your subconsciousness feels like doing.
