First LD last night, a little uncomfortable

last night i had my first lucid dream, it was exciting but a little scary/uncomfortable. I tried the DILD method after i woke to record an earlier dream. As i was falling asleep i told mysellf i would LD at the same time i imagined myself spinning. Ok so in my LD i was laying in my bed. I tried opening my eyes but struggled. I kept trying but i could only open them about half way before they shut again. I started doing this rapidly, it felt like i was having a seizure. I couldn't really control it. I noticed my room went from dark to light after one of the times i opened and closed my eyes. So i said to myself i must be dreaming i have to reality check. i struggles to get up and look at a digital clock behind me, i could barely see it so i put my face right up to it (at this point my eyes stayed open) there were rapidly changing symbols. i knew i was dreaming now, but for some reason couldn't do anything. i was stuck laying down in my bed again. i looked at my roomate whose bed was in the middle of the room. he stood up on his bed and faced me, his eyes were still closed. i tried to say something but my jaw was locked shut so i blew out of my mouth making wierd noises. I wasn't comfortable at all and tried to change the situtation but couldn't so i made myself wake up. Has this happened to anyone else before, or something similar? Any thoughts? Thanks!

I'd be interested in what people have to say about this too as sometimes I just lose all control.

I'm not that experienced but I think it's safe to say if you have more lucids they won't all be like that. Out of the ones I've had, I only lost control in two (and by control I mean like I couldn't move my body properly kinda how you were describing.)

      Nothing to worry about!
Remember, the only fear is fear itself!
If you are afraid of that is gonna happen when you go to sleep, it probably will.
In dreams, believing is seeing. If you cant move, maybe you can teleport away? All you have to do, is believe!(I know, i know, never heard that one before)

thanks zelzahim, your right. I didn't even think about teleporting. I was more focused on the fact that i was actually having a lucid dream. My first couple lucids i just wanna get the feel for it and get my motor skills down.

Haha. It is very Ironic that you say it this way. "motor skills" lol. I'm pretty sure you didnt mean it as true physical motor skills but I think this is where your having your problem. Nothing inside this world is "real" and you should remind yourself of this. I guess one way to think of the fact that you were having problems keeping your "eyes" open was the fact that you were thinking about opening eyes. There is nothing physical in this realm. Instead you should have been thinking I dont have eyes. I can see without effort. There are no eyelids to open. Control is something you learn over time, and personally I believe it comes from the realization not only of the fact that the world around you is not real, but also that there is no world around you lol.... The more you disassociate reality and "motor skills" with what you experience while lucid, the more fluid things will work for you in this place. Just remember this next time and if you are having problems with any physical aspect of this world, just remind yourself that it is not physical at all, therefore there are no problems.

the marker of true lucidity is to know that you can do whatever you want. it shouldn't take effort. Sometimes it does take effort for me to fly, but that's only because I think it should. When I remember that I don't need to try it just becomes easier. It really is like the training in the Matrix. Also if you find that you can't speak, you can always use telepathy.

The more experience and confidence you have with lucid dreaming, the easier and more controlled they will become.
