About two years ago, I became lucid in a dream in which I was crossing a central intersection in a larger town somewhere. I was enjoying the look of the pinkish granite bricks in the road, when I looked up and saw what appeared to be the ocean behind some glass doors leading into the lower level of one of the business blocks. I remember thinking it was one of the Great Lakes - but then I did a doubletake and realized I was dreaming. It hit me - like a ton of bricks - and all the things I wanted to do in a dream flooded into my consciousness. I was so excited that I was lucid! I actually jumped up & down like a little kid and told the person I was walking with "This is a dream! We're dreaming!! Well, I don't know about you, but I'm dreaming!!!" Then I remember saying - "oh! Look at my hands! Look at my hands!!" - and I did. As soon as the image of my hands resolved in front of me as clear as they do in regular waking reality, I heard a voice, like someone whispering, but not really whispering (it was odd) in my left ear, "This is the first gate of dreaming". That was it - nothing else. I looked around, but now I was alone in this downtown area. I felt myself starting to fade, and I tried to hold the dream but it faded out and that was it.

Why was this my favorite? The feeling I got when I heard the whispering voice was indescribable, primarily. I also was so excited that I remembered to carry out a conscious task in teh dream. The other reason: less than 6 months later, I found myself driving through this town - the buildings were almost identical as I remembered them in the dream, and the brick central circle in the intersection was nearly exactly as I had remembered it. I had never been in this town before. No Great Lake behind the glass door, however - just brown wooden siding and an entrance to a small store.

To this day it remains one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had.
