      lucid dreaming book

would it be a good idea for Dreamviews members to put together a book on lucid dreaming? I think it would be great because it would have all the great information on dreamviews that no one person has.

Please, if you read this and want to contribute, post, we need as much help as we can get, we really need some people who are willing to contribute some time to write chapters. Thanks in advance.

Talk about brainstorming, talk about me.

Let's abuse this forum in our favour

      1. I believe we would need a thread with the plans we have for the book. A thread to keep a relation of the chapters and content for the project. That way, we can consult these data easily. News should also be posted there, as well as tutorial use permissions.
      2. Secondly, I don't see a reason to create numerous polls. We can analyse the feedback on the techniques themselves at Induction Techniques. But that is just me.
      3. Then a one other thread to keep the versions of the book. Whenever something importantly new is added (e.g. a chapter be concluded), it be posted there.
      4. Finally, this thread should be kept, for general talk about the book.

The only problem with my suggestion is that it would require a moderator to edit some posts in this forum once in a while.

      Hope you like the ideas.

I like the ideas except I think we should have multiple polls for the simple reason that I think it would be beneficial to have hard data of the dreamviews people. That's just me though; if the others agree with you then I will politely secede

Wow, you guys have there a very good project, this is really interesting.

I offer my help as a graphic designer. It will be nice for that book to give him a professionnal design. Maybe I can also make a couple of original illustrations, if it make sense.
But also I believe that just doing something with a professionnal-looking typography will add a lot to the credibility of the book. Then, if you need a graphic designer, or at least an illustrator, tell me. It will be a joy to contribute to the making of the book.

philquiet, I don't see a reason not to have a graphic designer. A Good cover is the first step to a succesful book. Not only that, but certain aspects of the book might require schemes and illustrations for the best of understanding, and simply getting those from the Internet is not a good idea.

If there's anything that needs an illustration, I'll let you know . For example, the stages of sleep might require something visual. I discourage, however, the use of colour inside the book itself: it should be black and white, for the sake of price and standard.

      @ zoo york is cool:

You may surely take a chapter to contribute! It's good to know someone is interested in picking a chapter up.

Remember that you don't have to do it all by yourself: once you judge your chapter finished, you can post it here for revision and discussion. This is a team project after all

Check out the new chapters I added to the Project sketch. The following chapters will be about induction techniques, and you could surely pick the one you find most interesting You could use the ideas contained on the tutorials for that: we have a fat list of tutorials we were permited to adapt (again, check the Project Sketch for that )

      Wolf hugs

      ----------------

      @ everyone:

What should be the names of chapters 5, 6 and 7? They will be about the induction techniques (check the Project Sketch for details) and I just can't think of something without it being similar to LaBerge's chapters. Could you guys' superior minds help come up with something? thanks

Okay so I talked to my cousin (sugarglider11) on the phone just now. We decided that I would write the WILD chapter.

Help me name some techniques that have helped you with WILD

      personal suggestions:

Try reading the different WILD tutorials there are. I have a lot of experience with regular WILDs, so maybe I could help you. Jus twrite whatever you fidn appropriate and I'll revise it for you later on.

ParadigmShift's method is just brilliant, but he hasn't replied to my PM.

How to make your physical body fall asleep is also a good thread.

You could add the DEILD, VILD and FILD techniques, which are different from the main WILD but fall under the same category.

      ---

My original idea was to divide the WILD chapter into two subsections: one to reach Sleep Paralysis and one to enter a dream once in it. Sounds pretty organised that way.

Anyway thanks for the interest you two :O I feel enthusiastic about the induction chapters

Finally - what about the title for the chapter? Feel free to think of something, there is no title set yet

OK guys, I really think we should start working on this again, and I know I haven't done my contribution lately, so If there is anything I can do let me know.

Come one people, we need Ideas, we need people to add and revise chapters.

So, once again please if you can help, do help.

I also contacted Seeker about making an announcement, but I don't think he remembered.

I have a small request on the book. There should be a small section for "Beginers" it should state that everyone is different. Some techniques work good for some people, while other may not be able to do it. It's all about the experimenting, which takes time. I just think this would stop the whole... WHATS THE BEST TECHNIQUE..... just my simple 2 cents

      Good point, thanks.

There's something related at the end of the Introduction:

There are scientifically proven methods to obtain lucidity within your dreams, which we will explain in detail. The lucid dreaming community popularly classifies them using acronyms. For example, many techniques are classed as DILDs, meaning dream initiated lucid dream. As well as the main techniques, you will learn many relevant pieces of information, such as when the best time to gain lucidity is. The techniques will be guides that you can use, but also expand upon. You may even create ways on your own that best fit your lifestyle. Lucid dreaming involves creativity: if one way doesn't seem to work for you, then you can adapt it and make your own method. The goal behind this book is more than just to teach you popular techniques; it is aimed to help you learn to lucid dream on your own and do so masterfully. All told, lucidity is more of a personal achievement rather than a series of learned techniques.
      (my emphasis).

but I think it should explicitly include the point you make about there not being any one best technique.

If anyone were actually still writing the book, I'm sure they'd want to address your point .
You know you want to disable signatures (and images and avatars).

not like all other books which is "what is Lucid Dreaming" and that kind of stuff.
