Thread: Calea Zacatechichi (and some questions on salvia)

Wow, thanks for the input Borislav, sounds like some really great information there. Especially the part about it building up in your system first. I think most people would try it only a couple of times and if they noticed no results would quickly give up. Can you say about how long it took to build up and become more effective?

I too have experimented with Calea zacatechichi and Salvia Divinorum. I will be quite honest and say that during the time I tried calea I was also smoking marijuana every day so I believe this may have ruined most of the effects. I did not have an increase in the number of dreams I recorded, and I did not become lucid from this. However, I do remember having some dreams that seemed much more lengthy than normal.

Salvia Divinorum was the first psychedelic I ever experienced. I used 60x concentrate smoked out of a large water pipe. For those not familiar with Salvia, this is a very extreme method. I was not using it for dream enhancement, and I was not using it for "fun." I had an OBE and blasted off into a million thoughts at once for what seemed like a very long time. I saw many things, but it was very much a sensory overload. I was not worried about my health since I had done my research for several weeks beforehand and had close friends with me. In fact, if used correctly Salvia can be good for the brain...Anyway once it started to wear off after about 10 minutes, I was hovering around the room above the chair I was sitting in. I distinctly remember seeing my body, and my friends watching me closely. It was all very strange. I had forgotten everything during the trip. I began wondering where I was and what I was doing. It took a little longer for me to think "Oh that's right, I did that Salvia." It was after this thought that I flew back into my body, jumped up and realized that after experiencing this rush of strange thoughts and memories that I would never look at the world the same. It didn't necessarily "change" me, especially not in a bad way. I mean, i still had all of the same memories as before, just with many many more added to the storage in a short amount of time. Psychedelics show you many beautiful, scary, and insightful things which can be overwhelming for some. They can be deadly dangerous for the uninformed user. I have experienced high dose trips on Salvia probably about 10 times, and I have used the plain leaf many more times than that. It's never something I recommend to my friends or anyone else.

Like I said I was not using it for dream enhancement, but I had noticed many sources reported vivid dreams were one of the effects. I did notice an increase in the number of dreams I recorded, and a definite increase in the vividness of many of the dreams after each experience. However, Salvia did not always guarantee a vivid dream, because I also noted that some nights after using it I recorded no dreams at all.

For the record, I want to reiterate that I do not believe anyone should try this herb for the first time for the sole purpose of dreaming, and especially not for fun. And if you are at all interested in Salvia, please do some research before using it. I can't tell you how many times I've heard of some uninformed kid getting a hold of Salvia thinking he'll get stoned and ending up running into a busy street probably thinking something like they're the reincarnation of every bird that's ever lived on the planet.
