I agree that too much melatonin makes it more difficult to remember dreams because it causes a person to sleep too deep. |

I belive I've found a downside to taking a melatonin supplement. Although it is said to not be addictive, just try falling asleep without taking it after you have been taking it for a while. It's not easy. |

Assuming you don't have seriously, dangerously low levels of serotonin, how much you have isn't going to be the limiting agent here when it comes to melatonin production. No matter how much serotonin you have in your body, if you sit around in bright lights until 5 seconds before you try to sleep, you are going to get well screwed with your melatonin supply. Light/darkness is what throttles your melatonin production, not precursor supply (with a normal human being, at least), so the best all-natural way to ramp up your melatonin is going with the flow of daylight and resisting your urges to turn on lights after sundown. That's tough, which is why supplementation is such an appealing alternative. |

That makes sense and is exactly what I read on the Saltcube site, that in order to be able to get to sleep easily, avoid watching TV, avoid using the computer, and avoid other bright lights before going to bed. It makes sense now. I guess that's sort of hard to do though unless a person has a dark room they can sit in for about 30 minutes before to be and unwind. |

The highest dose of Melatonin I took in one night was 60 mg's (not 60 mcg's). I would have to agree that taking too much is harmful to dream recall, as I had a dream that night that seemed like it lasted for a couple of years, yet I don't remember a thing about it. |

Just a quick question. I bought some melatonin tablets... and this is what the dosage says on the label: |
