Thread: The Oculus Rift and Lucid Dreaming games?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has heard of the Oculus Rift and are you planning to buy it? I've been wondering if there are any Lucid Dreaming games out there that anyone has tried with the device or if anyone has developed a Lucid Dreaming game that you could play with on the device. What do you think of the idea? Would it be interesting for Lucid Dreaming experiments through virtual reality so you could train your self to become Lucid in your dreams? Just a thought if anyone has came up with this idea yet. It would be a great experience for lucid training with the Virtual Reality Goggles.

Yeah, the Rift is amazing and I will definitely be buying it. As for lucid dreaming games though, I'm not sure.

I'd love to buy them, but they're kind of expensive...especially when my computer can't handle most recent games

Regarding lucid dreaming, I know of no projects being developed. We have enough problems defining a good game about lucid dreaming, and there are much more viable candidates when it comes to game themes (sadly). Still, the technology is very recent, so let's give it time!

My Oculus should ship in August. If I can find a way to set up a PSX emulator with it I'd love to play LSD while listening to a mantra/binaurals before bed. Not sure how useful it would be, but it sounds like it could be helpful.

there is a game called something like DREAM on steam greenlight but it wont be out for along time and its based on DREAMS and possibly lucid dreaming........ AND IT FULLY SUPPORTS oculus rift

I have had my Dev Kit 1 for a while now and I know of one Lucid Dreaming game that is being developed. The game is called Dream and You can find it on steam here Save 33% on Dream on Steam . The game is in alpha right now and has Oculus Rift Support listed under Final Game Features, so Rift support is not there yet. I haven't bought the game yet because I don't have any money, but I'm planning to buy it as soon as possible.

Another game that kind of reminds me of dreaming is SightLine. It's a free game (at the moment, I don't know about the future), that is in alpha right now, I think. It's basically like anything that is not in your line of sight might change, move or not even be there when you look back. It's a pretty cool (and super frustarating) puzzle game, with some pretty dreamlike scenes and puzzles. some things make perfect sense, but sometimes Everything is werid and you might ask yourself if you really are awake.

Also the Oculus Rift is absolutely awesome! The only thing it needs is higher res screen & positional tracking. I will definetly buy the consumer version when it launches. maybe even Dev Kit 2. I really can't have enough Rifts.

Basically, it's a device that allows the user to move in the virtual setting. It uses the technology you see with conjunction (if you choose to, but they are separate products) with Oculus Rift. The price of them combined is less than 500euros afair.

Not sure is this is considered necrobumping, seeing as this thread is about 8 months old. Sorry if it is. I'm very active in the virtual reality community, and I'm working with a team to make a time travel VR experience. The DK2 just recently started shipping out and while it still isn't perfect and suffers from its share of bugs and glitches, it also represents a step forward in VR in a lot of ways, namely with an improved resolution and positional tracking (now it not only knows the rotation of your head, but also its position in space). I'm very interested in how this could be used with lucid dreaming, not only to replicate the experience, but there may be some potential to use it as an induction device. I'm not sure how, but the possibility is intriguing. I hope that one day VR is good enough to be equivalent to LDs while not requiring so much training and focus, but that's just not possible right now.
