There is always time for a first
Vibrations start in NREM, as you are ready to go to REM. People woken up in NREM (light sleep stage) swear, they were still awake, not asleep.
I'm not saying that you are wrong. But I don't know of any other vibrations. I have not felt any untill one day I did. And I do feel them quite often since then, maybe because now I know how they feel and what to look for. (they can be quite subtle at times).
And most often I get them when trying to WILD during a nap, while still fully conscious. I feel them, while I'm thinking about what I will make for dinner and that if this takes much longer, I will need to get up, because I'm starting to get hungry. All I'm saying, you may be closer, than you think.
