Thread: diphenhydramine hcl review

Hi dreamviews community,
due to high stress and loads of work my doc gave me diphenhydramine hcl to help my sleep.
First night I went with 50mg which gave me very vivid dreams in turn making it very easy to achieve lucidity(which i did).
Second night I tried 75mg and after and hour I passed out and didn't remember anything next day.
Last night I went for 50mg again. Good thing about diphenhydramine hcl is that it doesnt really knock you out in this dose range but you fall asleep much easier and your dreams are insanely realistic.
I think I've had the weirdest dream last night. Unlike other nights, this one was just one ( probably spread through bursts, but following the same story line).
Here's dream journal entry for last night:
28/29 oct 2011

-was at some weird camp… all of my friends and people i know with their parents were there
- we were drawing cards which decided whom we gonna fight
- everybody had some kind of superpower
- i had normal mma fight luckily and was called the warrior and was fighting some dude ( i presumably knew him) called hunter
- when we got to fight was tough and all but i eventually won taking hold of the situation by an elbow lock ( i'm a fighter in waking life so my skills came in useful )
- then we went to celebrate and drink
- marcus (my old friend whom i haven't seen for a year) was there too hah and he kept on sleeping for some reason
- i also saw a fight with some random beast dude with another guy who was like subzero from mortal combat
- then me marcus and some other dude wanted to make wings t fly
- we got some machine which would be able to take us up if we connected wings to it but we couldn't find wings anywhere so we made them out of rizla papers ( haha)
- remember my parents and kamil(my brother) advising me what to do during the fight ( sort of coach style)
- we went on some tour around that island we were on and i remember swamps and shit
- the strange thing was that in this camp there was a shitload of people.. everybody sitting on the ground and waiting for the fights to come up
- ore (my flatmate) pussies out from his fight cuz he had to fight a dude who was like that beast from x-men lol
- i did a reality check with my palms during the dream but i was only lucid for a short period of time as i absorbed that creative dream.. it was too interesting and fun that i didn't have to be lucid to have fun

I really recommend Diphenhydramine hcl as a sleeping aid (short term as your body adapts to the chemical) but most importantly and relevantly to these forums- for inducing lucid dreams. Your dreams are just too vivid and it's extremely easy to realise you're dreaming.

I'll try it tonight with MILD. 50mg diph, as in unisom sleepgels?

You will be very drowsy within 30 min - 1 hour. 50 mg is sufficient.

Other than the fact it's very bad on the liver, I would agree.

It's easier than acetaminophen is on the liver.

I'm not really familiar with the side-effects and the whole pharmacology of the chemical it was just recommended to me.. All I can say is that 50mg is the limit for vivid dreams and if you go above that you literally get stoned and mentally 'slow' after 1hour and when you fall asleep you don't remember anything (atleast I did not). 50mg is the perfect dosage I'd say

Nothing special but I did have a little bit of dream recall increase no vividness though. 50mg

Don't take 500mg unless you want psychosis, true hallucinations and paranoia for a month. Changes shit.
