Lucid Dream/ RC Reminder on the Ceiling over your Bed.

This idea crossed my mind so many times, but I never quite got to doing it.

What if I hung a poster/painting on the ceiling over my bed that reminds me to do a Reality Check and to Dream Lucid?

It could be an Eye catching image with the text "Dream Lucid" included into it.
Before falling asleep it would remind me to Dream Lucid as wel as give me an oppertunity to perform a Reality Check. I could read the "Dream Lucid", look away and try to see if it still says the same. That's allways been a pretty foolproof RC to me.


This way I could remind myself to Dream lucid as well as to perform Reality Checks everytime I go to bed and everytime I wake up.


The image could be that of a face or of an eye. Eyes and faces are very attention-catching and the sense of "being looked at" somehow raises awareness on an instinctive level. It could also be an image of a geometrical star or flower.
Just as long as it is fascinating and has a visually hypnotic attention-catching property. A Powerfull and well-defined, High contrast image.


Such an image could be stared at while falling asleep. Every now and then "Dream Lucid" can be read while continually gazing into the image untill one can no longer keep their eyes open and falls asleep.


Anyone willing to try this?
I'm going to make a painting for this purpose.

It wont be that effective. Because when you dream I doubt you'll wake up In your bed, And because its easier to write RC on your hand.

If you stare at it for a long time before falling asleep don't you think it will incubate this into your dreams that night?
To be a reminder of and oppertunity to doing Reality Checks as well is only a way of making the image multi-functional.

I often start dreams from my bedroom, in the form of false awakenings (Dreaming I can't sleep and decide to get up), but still even if I don't wake up in my room, the point is to incubate the image into my dreams. There it can serve as a Reality Check; Trying to read the text and seeing if it says the same after looking away.

I think it would be a good idea for all the false awakenings I've been getting lately. It might remind me to do a reality check if I realize its not there during a FA, also it could remind me to do one when it is there during a FA.

I'm working on the painting. It's rather big.
For now it's colored turqoise/seagreen, dark in the corners, becomming brighter towards the centre where there is a big circle of unpainted space.

I want to paint a donutshape around the unpainted centre circle in which is written "Dream Lucid".
I'm not sure about what to paint inside the circle yet. I'm thinking of either an eye, a face, a cat's face or a geometrical, braided, arabesk star.
It might actually become an Arabesk star with an eye in it's centre. I'll have to make a couple of sketches first.

I'd like some DV members to try this method with a simple and effective image to put on the ceiling over their beds and give this a try. I'd like to know if it can help people achieve lucidity.

I'm busy on the LC-indoctrination Painting, still not sure how I shall shape it.
I've decided that in the centre I will paint an embroided, arabesque
, mandalic flower/star figure, much like this:

The arabesque mandala is nicely attention demanding, fascinating and hypnotic to look at. And if either the lines or the background of the mandalic flower were painted with blacklight paint, this could make for a deeply hypnotic, entrancing image if shone on with a faint blacklight. Gazing at this image untill you can no longer keep your eyes open and fall asleep, would make me think that sooner or later this Image, hopefully along with it's meaning, gets incubated into my Dreams> leading me to Lucidity.

Now if Any of you want to try this, all it takes is an inspiring image, such as the one I just described, make sure it includes some text reminding you of Lucidity/RCs/Questioning the nature of Reality, and place it on the ceiling over your bed.

If only there would be 2 or more people willing to try experimenting with this and report back results here. It's not much trouble to do at all and for all you know it might just work for you.

I'm excited to see how this turns out. Maybe you could embed some of your dream signs into the design. Maybe a repeating pattern of a favorite object. Stencil it's silhouette, or stamp it, or something.

I'll give this a try, it has been on my mind recently and I'm bored atm. Not an artist but I think I'll get the job done. Will post a picture and results sometime in next two weeks when I get back home

This is a very good idea but I dont think it would work for me because I have to be completely dark and with my eyes close to fall asleep.

It doesn't matter if you sleep in total darkness. Just look at an image/symbol for some time, then turn the lights off and go to sleep

When you hang an image on the ceiling above your bed, you have no choice but to see it every time before you fall asleep and every time after you awake.

yea, I guess thats true... I might have to try it than.
