I lol'd
haha oh that made my day
lool
i don't think the suicide stuff is funny. but i think this isn't going to work. what are they going to do? hack the bullys computer and fry it? tell the cops that someone called a person a dick. then the cops kick the door down and arrest the guy. and i would like them try to put a stop to YouTube comments. i dont see much success
I don't understand something so it must be ridiculous
I'm just a kid, man
People, CyberBullying can be really serious. I know a group pretty well, and they will do some bad stuff.
Normal cyberbullies are tolerable:
"Dude, get a life. You're stupid, and no one likes you."
I mean, I don't know about you, but that kind of stuff does nothing to me.
NOW!
Tracking down peoples addresses, prank calling their parents and relatives, getting them in trouble with the White House emergency hot line, getting them in trouble with the postal service, super spamming their mailboxes (I mean real life mailboxes, AND email inboxes), false flagging any videos on their youtube, calling them names, posting web pages describing how "stupid" they are, DDOSing their websites, and otherwise harassing and trolling them into horrible conditions....
...that can be intense. And I know, because I was a victim once.
I support this cause.
It sounds naive, but bullies do stop what they're doing when other people stand up for the victim, which is all too rare but is actually very simple. Bullies thrive only when they sense that everybody else supports what they're doing to the other person (which includes not doing anything).
And I'm not big on using Facebook, but it is extremely popular with teenagers and seems to be a fertile ground for cyber bullying. That's why I think this is a good cause.
wait... this is happening with teens on facebook? couldn't they just... de-friend the bullies or something?
Hahahaha
But yea this group will have no impact. I'm not trying to ruin the thread, I'm just talking.
If kids are stupid enough to commit suicide over something someone said over the internet than they can just go ahead and kill themselves. Like for real...
The ONLY pitty I have is for the girls (and maybe guys?) that are tricked on Myspace or Facebook or ect. For instance, a girl fell in love with a guy over Myspace. She though he was perfect. 'Till be dumped her for no reason and laughed at her face. It turns out it was a jealous kid across the street who couldn't have her. So he made a profile and broke her heart. She then hung herself. By the way, I'm not making this up. Look it up.. :)\
But otherwise it's pretty funny when kids kill themselves for nothing. Actually, killing yourself period is stupid.
Then you have an inhumane and sick sense of humor.Quote:

yeah, they can Cyg.
I understand what's being attempted but it's not going to help. There's a problem with the new generations, which is they believe the internet and cell phones are true forms of having a relationship with someone (communication wise). So they take them to the extreme and are not taught what a real, physical, tangible relationship truly is. Until this is changed, there's nothing anyone can do. I once had a friend try cutting his wrists because a girl he met on myspace that lived across the country that he had never met but was supposedly "dating" broke up with him... He didn't die, i gave him a long eye opening speech then stopped talking to him until he grew up and matured on the subject (i explained that was the reason why). Suicide for one is selfish, and naive. Someone who commits suicide usually has problems with chemical imbalances and mental troubles. I agree it would be very disturbing for someone to commit suicide, although i don't care of the death part, it's that someone can feel so alone in a world with such a large population count...
there's always someone that will befriend a person, if you have trouble with such come find me, i try to allot friendship to most everyone. That is until they jeopardize said friendship with the insertion of BS
nice post, mems.
like you said, the 'new generations' are growing up in a very technocratic environment. humanity hasn't evolved fast enough to catch up with this exponential surge, so we are maladjusted and things like this happen.
For a suicidal person it may just seem so right-- they've given up looking for the trees because there's a forest in the way.
Some open their eyes with time, others cannot summon the courage. I've dedicated time and effort to trying to enlighten people who I barely know, or don't know at all, who are depressed and just blinded by the feelings they have in the present. It's in the present. They need to realise that life gives us this pit in life so that we may jump across it to victory, and only those with the determination to do so can make the jump. Everyone can. We are all born with the ability to live life prosperous and happy, but we are also with the ability to dampen our lives to the pinnacle of our very existance and nothing more. Even when it seems like there's always one or another, the other is always there. You just need to unlock it somehow- finding anything that may bring joy to someone- whether that's talking or playing or whatever. If they make wrong decisions or plan on it, well then the motivation gig just starts over into a new perspective.
I barely know what I'm saying, but in conclusion, I forget who said this, but "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem."
internet hate machine ;)
What the FUCK?
This group could have a much bigger impact than you think. It may not seem like it, but I can see how it can help out with people who are getting cyber bullied on Facebook.
There are a butt load of stories about kids who were bullied and cyber bullied in school who have died by suicide. If anyone is getting bullied, help them out, don't join in on the bullying.
I am a victim of cyber bullying and I DON'T LIKE IT.
How in the hell do you get bullied over the Internet? You just block them ffs, i really don't understand this.
It doesn't matter if you do block them. They could make a burnpage on facebook and everyone would see it and hundreds can bash the kid. It happened to this kid at my school. it was called the Bloom trail Burn List. [its gone now because of police] and I am trying to prevent these type of things
Actually... This year's christmas UK number one music hit was a raging against the machines song, rather than how it is usually the winner of X factor's single. A facebook group made that so. They basically picked a song, told everyone to buy it, and not buy the X factor song, and there you go, the whole country under the influence of a facebook page.
So this could actually very much so make a difference.
I'll join it ;)
I understand that cuber bullying is a big thing. I understand the age group most affected (which is why I agreed with the junior member thing on DV), and I think it would be great to do any little thing to make any amount of difference.
EDIT:
I would climb out your computer screen and shoot you in the head for that kind of thinking.
I can only hope you are joking... however sick a joke it may be.
12 year old Twilight fans have authority over the world
You can block them all you want. Won't stop them from making a whole bunch of accounts and still spamming you.
Some people are also emotionally vulnerable. While some of us know how to deal with this kind of thing, others just take it to much to heart.
Also, there are things that could be happening in this person's life that also happens on the internet that would cause them to take their life.
Should I also bring up the point that cyber-bulling not only leads to suicides, but school shootings?
YOU GUYS HERE ON DREAMVIEWS STOP BEING MEAN TO Me..
Yes killing yourself over cyber bully is dumb, but people go to extreme lengths to continue to bully people. It just takes a toll
I sometimes wish people would just get along.
It's peoples fault to be affected by these things, it's their problem, if you want to help do so, If I happen to find myself with people like that I might help them, but I'm not gonna go looking for them (specifically, people that have had trouble with bullying).
Better than whining and trying to think about killing themselves and being unwanted, they should think why these happen in their lives and what do they have to learn from it.
CyberBully: "You are a worthless waste of life! GO KILL YOURSELF FAGGOT"
Victim: "OH GOD! No! stop! please! Ughhhh cant...close browser! CANT SET....FACEBOOK PROFILE TO PRIVATE....... AHHH!"
Sorry, but unless you are talking about cyber bullying like the crap 4chan pulls (Which I can understand, they can do some real damage), and not some immature tools who like to spam and troll their class mates, this is ridiculous. If you are being effected by words over the internet from someone you will never meet and never would be friends with in real life, than there are deeper issues than just insecurity.
Set your myspace/facebook profiles to friend only, and stop accepting the friend invite of every person you don't know. Getting pestered on IM? Block the spammers or set your IM program to only accept messages from friends you've added.
I think you may be misunderstanding the type of attack that cyber bullying can be classified as. It isn't a case of simple trolldom. There are some fairly insidious people who will go through great lengths to cause trouble for people and demean them, for example in the video on the facebook channel the kid had girls pretending to like him on messenger and then when they see him in person they tell him it was just so they could make fun of him.
Setting facebook to friend only and not accepting friend invites may be the opposite of how some people want to approach the issue since for some kids (particularly kids who are likely to be cyber bullied to a high degree) the whole point of facebook is to widen their circle of friends, not keep it closed to those that they already know.
I support it. It is a serious issue. People who have no life and low self esteem will go to extremes in order to hurt other people. It is an issue when you can't just block them out of your life and they become a hassel in real life, bothering you with real issues. It can take a toll.
Honestly, cyber bullying can suck. Last year some worthless wastes of humanity made a "Beat up *my real name*" page and started posting "reasons" why I "deserve" to have the crap beaten out of me. And guess what: Within the week when that group existed, four people beat the crap out of me and I was pushed down countless flights of stairs. I didn't commit suicide or consider it, but really, just because something starts on the internet doesn't mean it isn't real.
Things like that only makes things worse. It passed anyway, and the person who started the group got expelled for an unrelated incident.
