      Question Makeup on females

Guys, do you find women more attractive when they have makeup on or when they're not wearing makeup at all? Please state the reasons behind your vote.

Generally, (around 80% of the time) I dislike makeup on women. I like the more natural look a woman gives off when she's not wearing makeup. Shows me she has nothing really to hide and that she totally confident in who she is.

I'm not opposed to makeup. I think women are attractive when they wear lipstick and eyeshadow sometimes but the other stuff sometimes is just a bit much for me. I'm just a natural kind of guy.

      What about you?

I reckon makeup that enhances the nice features on a chick's face is nice. If it's not done properly, it looks horrid. Probably why alot of ppl say they prefer the natural look.

i'm not completely opposed to makeup, but i prefer it when a girl doesn't have any on.

but hey, emo girls can be kinda cute with that black stuff around their eyes

so it really just depends on who it is and how much they use. ha.

Most girls look ugly as hell without make-up, IMO. I'll go with the first alternative.

It depends on the situation really.

For example, nothing looks hotter than a girl fresh out the shower, wrapped in a huge towel or dressing gown, or just a little silk number, still a little wet with no make-up on. However, not many girls can pull off the completely natural look, so make-up does enhance their looks.

For me, I prefer very little. I love the morning look to a girl, when they're completely into you that they trust you to see them in the morning, that they know you'll still find her beautiful all natural and sleepy looking.

So I voted indifferent because I think a little looks nice when you're going out somewhere, but the baggy pyjamas natural look does it for me

      Either or.

Make up can look good on a girl, but sometimes it's a bit much or they didn't put on the right stuff.

It really depends on their natural complexion in the first place...I mean, some girls just need makeup. Period. Probably makes me a "shallow" guy for thinking so, but looks, while not everything, are still at least a little important. Using makeup - even if only a little - is a woman's way of showing she cares about her appearance. Much the same way I wouldn't dare go into a date unshaven and haggard-looking.

It depends on the girl/woman and on the makeup.

Nor entirely true. A woman can care about her appearance without wearing makeup. Some just happen to value their natural looks, see no point in altering it (in this particular way) to look good in their own eyes or other people's.

I, for one, value my confort and health over my looks or what others may think of it.
I hate makeup because it's, I dont know... sticky or whatever and I can feel it all the time covering my skin like dirt, blocking the air, restraining its natural plasticity. It's like wearing a damn mask. It feels even worse with lipstick. How anyone likes to kiss that crap is beyond me.
On top of it there's the issue of what usually goes into makeup. For the most part, it's not the kind of thing anyone should rub on their bodies.

It's not always about men. I see a similar myth going around in regard to women's clothes and I can tell you it's mostly about vanity. It's about looking in a mirror and thinking "Damn, I look great in this!".
I may be wrong, but don't guys do the same?

Of course we do. I'm not much to look at and I still have to look in a mirror every time I pass one

I think women can look great with make-up, and whilst it's true that I'd rather wake up to a woman of natural beauty, it would mean nothing if she had a personality that didn't match it.

Here's a girl who provides invaluable makeup tips to girls online, she has other videos too if you wanna see the rest.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-joBOHlg5J0

If you watched the video, you'll see that this girl is really "okay" looking, but manages to make herself rather physically beautiful with refined makeup materials and technique.

What's wrong with lipstick? I personally HATE the stickiness and glossiness/shininess of lip gloss.. I guess some lipsticks can be nasty - thick, gunky, overly-pigmented stuff.. But not a nice, sheer, hydrating lipstick.

      Spoiler for lips example:

(FifthElement) decades of animal testing for cosmetics - not pretty.
For sure. A lot of people aren't even aware about this shit. I think some countries have outlawed it actually (certainly not the US though). I only buy stuff from cruelty-free, natural companies.

(Mes) In my perfect world everyone would be wearing dresses and painting their nails if they so wished, without fear of judgement.
      QFT!!

(Photolysis) the person underneath it for being so shallow and vain as to completely change who they are to conform to expectations from the mass media.
I agree with this completely. However, I feel this only applies to people trying to transform the way they look by applying makeup. Which is, essentially, what a lot of people do. There should just be a limit.. when you're applying fake lashes and lip plumpers everyday..things are getting out of hand. If you feel you look unacceptable to the general public without makeup on, there are issues! We all need to be comfortable with going out there without wearing anything.

Also, a little makeup goes a long way! It's good to research what sort of colours look natural on you. Blue eyeliner/shadow with olive skin & brown eyes is going to look unnatural.

I know a lot of guys might prefer it when girls don't wear make up and are more natural-looking, but a lot of times girls use it to cover up imperfections such as acne, scars, e.t.c. I would know, I used to wear make up to cover up pimples about two years ago, I was really insecure to go out without it. I'm all cleared of acne and everything now, but back then I used a specific brand of make up which my dermatologist recommended in order to cover up the acne, because I was just feeling really insecure about having people staring at me the other way.

Other than that, I do wear make up occassionaly. It makes me feel more comfortable and I've become quite experienced with eyeliner and such. I am not for heavy, bright make up, however. My everyday make up consists of: foundation, powder, a bit of blush in order not to look pale, maybe a bit of mascara and lip gloss. On special occassions or if I'm really into it I wear eyeliner and eyeshadow, but not all the time. All of the shades I own are natural-like, nothing such as bright red or bright pink or anything.

Probably 'shopped in the way the last few images up the contrast, or maybe the way the photograph is taken to increase the whiteness. Rather striking transformation though. It's a wonder how people feel the need to put so much energy into the way they look, sounds reasonable to others but I'll probably never understand it.

She'd look exactly the same but whiter. You have to remember that she's not doing a cute smile and doesn't seem to have hair in the first picture.
