It's funny really, the only people who really care are women. They spend fucking ages obsessing over it without realising that actually... the vast majority of men don't even notice or care.

For example: 'eyelash extending makeup'. So many hours of advertising are devoted to eyelashes, it's bizarre; men don't care at all about how big women's eyelashes are. Whether it's a myth invented and propogated by makeup companies or women are more receptive to facial features, I don't know. I had a conversation with my sister once about it, and she was like, 'oh but it does make a difference, your eyes have so much more impact etc. etc.' and I was just like... 'no'.

Edit: And yeah guys, Rihanna has a five head that isn't going anywhere. But that's not a makeup related issue.

Here are some models with and without makeup.

I posted a couple pictures of myself on the picture thread without any makeup, but apparently everybody was too scared to post a comment.

First girl looks good without makeup, second girl looks like she got punched in both eyes with makeup and the fourth looks like Casper the ghost with it on as well.

And you look very attractive without makeup Deery.

Good example. First is a nice example of good makeup. She probably has around the same amount as all the rest below her. Unfortunately many ppl that are against makeup see examples like the 3 shit ones. (BTW, 3rd chick has nice makeup on too. It's just the lipstick colour sucks).

Makeup is art, it can either enhance a face or be ugly. I like it if it's well done.

I havent read this thread so excuse me if i am repetitive.

I definitely approve of makeup. For the girls who need it, it gives self confidence. For the ones who dont need it, it shows the guy she is with or guys she wants to get with that she cares what she looks like. Confidence is attractive in girls. It makes the girl seem like a real gem. I agree that girls are prettier without make up, but its nothing to not approve of.

I don't find confidence attractive in girls to be honest. It's an attractive masculine trait sure, but personally I really like shy girls. :3

More +1. I find the shy, quiet type to be very attractive and cute, to be honest. Granted, a lack of self-esteem is never attractive, but I don't think makeup makes all that much a difference in this department...self-esteem can be built up over time via positive reinforcement and the like. It does not need to be found in a tube of mascara. Quietly protesting the 10 character limit.

I am into the party girl. One who tries to look as hot as possible, and then flaunts it, trying to seem like she is unattainable. So pretty much that girl = confidence. And to me, that is what im looking for.

If i was looking for a long term girlfriend, which i am definately not looking for, then a quiet shy girl who would love you might be best. But damn i am 19 years old, i want to have fun, not be stuck in a relationship with a clingy girl.

There's a happy medium between slutty exhibitionist and shy, meek girl. Confident doesn't have to be loud and brutish. Confidence can simply be the way you carry yourself, knowing that you can do whatever you want in life and it doesn't matter what others think. Confidence that is just there and doesn't have to be over-stated is true confidence, and everybody knows it.

I had a crazy idea: what if we had a photo contest where all the girls wore no makeup whatsoever, but all the guys did? BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA, AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... opposite day! (for some)

Problem: Men mostly doesn't know how to put on make-up, and not everyone has someone who could help them.

May I also point out that in other terms, not in the terms of sexual "liking", but girls do judge other girls. Makeup does count for this.

Also another problem, - most guys don't own makeup.

The problem isn't going to get solved by gender/role reversal either.

The problem, I think, is about how women perceive themselves and why some of them feel it absolutely necesaary to wear makeup.

I don't normally care one way or another... but I DON'T like makeup over-done.
I also dislike wearing makeup. It takes me 5 minutes to put it on:

Foundation closest to my skin tone, rubbed in lightly; two small lines of lipstick along my cheek bones, rubbed in with the foundation; the same lipstick on my lips ; black eye liner applied where it shouldn't be (there's a little "ridge" on the lower eye lid behind the lashes which I have ALWAYS used).
If I'm feeling brave, I put on some brown and cream eye shadow (which tends to flake into my eyes and irritates me ALL stinking day). NO mascara. It ALWAYS flakes into my eyes, worse even than eyeshadow. I have thin eye lashes but I've come to accept them

One reason I hate putting on makeup is because every time I find something I like, it get's discontinued. I have ONE stick of lipstick left: Jane Megaccino. I don't like it nearly as much a Choco Lots, but it's all I have.
I used to use a pencil style eye shadow by Mary Kate and Ashley. It was wedged in such a way that it was perfect. It doesn't flake or irritate my eyes/skin. But I can no longer find it either. GRRR.

My hubby almost insists on makeup AND hair coloring. If we're going out somewhere, I'll put on makeup. But I'm getting a few strands of gray hair. I love gray hair lol, so he's learning to leave me alone about coloring reddish blonde (my natural color in the middle of summer IF I'm out-doors all the time, otherwise my color is light brown).
It annoys me when people insist on makeup.
I think I'm "okay looking" without it and only slightly better with it. Why go through all the hassle?

For me, I prefer very little. I love the morning look to a girl, when they're completely into you that they trust you to see them in the morning, that they know you'll still find her beautiful all natural and sleepy looking.

So I voted indifferent because I think a little looks nice when you're going out somewhere, but the baggy pyjamas natural look does it for me

I like a girl who can be pretty without make up. I don't like it when girls spend 30 minutes putting on blush, foundation, lip gloss, mascara, eyeliner, etc. Ironically, a lot of my friends (girls) used to have me watch them put on make up so I could tell them when it was balanced, what they needed, etc. They said I should be a cosmetologist.... don't know what to make of that.

Anyways, I like the natural look. Very few girls can pull it off, and I respect the ones that can (and do). However, there are some types of make-up I like. Namely, lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner. These are (generally) less deceiving, and can be used artistically, the same way as dying one's hair, without trying to make yourself look more "perfect."

On special occasions, make-up can be OK when not over done.

      My 2 cents.
