So, tonight was the first night I heard em, but I'll give you the whole story.
I went into my garage at about 1:15 a.m. to have a cigarette. I didn't go out on the deck (where I normally go) because it had just rained. While I'm smoking, I'm texting people, and just leaning against my mom's car. About five minutes go by, and it's all dandy. Then, I hear this noise. Hard to explain.
Kind of like a very soft moan. Like an... "ehh". At first, I thought it was an animal or something. The most extreme thing I could think of was two people banging outside of my garage, in my backyard. But it was too irregular, and upon further listen (it happened a few more times, about once every 30-40 seconds) I realized it didn't sound like a moan of pleasure (or pain to be honest).
I texted someone "there's weird fucking noises in my garage", and then put my phone away. I continued smoking, but tried not to move. The noise came again, but this time it was a very short "eh."
The next time, it was an even longer one, that seemed to continue into a noise I can't really explain. It's weird, because it was audible, but not loud enough to think it was something in the garage. I finish my cigarette, go back inside, and ask my mom if she's hearing what I'm hearing. She immediatley knows what I'm talking about, but says she only hears it in the middle of the night, and only when she's in the garage, not outside.
She goes out to have a cigarette, so I wait in the garage with her. I hear it again. Another "ehh" continued into another sort of moan. She says it's probably just an animal. So I open the back door, flick on the light, and look at where I thought the sound was coming from. Nothing there. So I close the door, and go back in the garage. It stops, for the remainder of the time she's in there.
So I stay in my garage, light up another cigarette, take out my phone, and use the sound recorder on there. Nothing happens for about 2 minutes, and then the noise comes back. It doesn't sound like a distinct animal, but it doesn't sound human either. I catch the noise on sound recording, but play it back to find that I can't hear it. It must have been too quiet.
So I go back upstairs, look online, and just search for "Noises in the middle of the night", "moaning noises at night". I come up with a few things. Foxes, cats, etc etc. Apparently they moan when they're mating. But that's the thing, I looked outside, and didn't see anything. Sure, I've seen cats before around the house, but I didn't see any outside. And there aren't any in my garage, there's just no where a cat would hide in there. I did listen to a cat moaning on youtube though. Sounds nothing like what I heard. Too... human sounding. Which is what bugs me.
It doesn't sound human. It doesn't sound like an animal. What the fuck is it?
