I remember when girls started menstruating in like freshman year of highschool. The poor kid who didn't know about overheard one of the girls say that she was bleeding alot, so he got her a band aid.

Happy period day. Better you than me lol (I just got over mine thank goodness).

I didn't meet my bio dad and his family until I was about 22 years old. His wife ("Bear") is hilarious. They are the sweetest,most laid back people you could meet and I have much respect and love for them... but my step-mom was a true "country bumpkin" growing up. She told a story about how periods were NEVER talked about. She started hers at school and she started crying. Her teacher asked what the matter was and Bear told the teacher to say goodbye to her mom for her because she thought she was dying.
Another story that's equally funny is that she got pregnant when she was about 15 and her mom told her to NEVER take off a baby's booties because it could catch a death of a cold. She took that completely literally and bathed my brother in his socks for about a month because she was too afraid to take them off.
THe saddest thing about it is that she's only in her early 50's.

Fargo, North Dakota officials spent much of Wednesday working on a revised plan after the National Weather Service issued a foreboding forecast for the Red River: a 41-foot crest predicted to hit Saturday. "Nobody that's alive today has ever seen it at 41 feet," said Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker. "They need to take this extremely seriously." Sheriff Paul D. Laney told residents to stay away from the area, warning that "peoples' lives are at stake." full story

Walaker said it's only "smart" for city officials and residents to think about worst-case scenarios, which could include a citywide evacuation.

"If they have people that are infirm or have difficulty getting around, they [residents] should consider taking them out of the city" before any evacuation is ordered, he said.

"If you have kids that are small and so forth, evacuation would scare the tar out of them."'

It's gonna scare your kids no matter what. Unless they are simultaneously celebrating this thread. In which case they will have a conflict of interest.
