runescape SUCKS, if you want a decent game, get gunbound (search google for gunbound) its free, its not an mmorpg but its good fun and will have you addicted for weeks.
there are NO good free mmorpgs, dont be cheap, pay for em!
im getting a years subscription to final fantasy 11 online for xmas so that should be good, why dont you do the same?
I thought gunbound sucked too. In fact, I don't use the internet for gaming - not as if this modem would let me anyway. I use it for surfing these forums, talking on these forums and er...learning stuff.
www.Ospora.com
It releases in December, it's a space game where you fly around in your ship to different planets and blow other ships up and take their money, you can create guilds and trade. (Just to name a few things)
I suggest everyone on this forum takes a look, and while your at it join Star Legion. :D
Hmmm MMORPG , well they are extremely good to play at times, and they can get really addictive, but in my limited experience not worth it in the long run. First of all once you get into the game you buy, it becomes so important to build your character and become more powerful in the game, that it takes over your real life, and you become sucked into the game 24/7. For instance, i had Final Fantasy XI online for about 4 months. This took away about 6 hours a day on adverage out of my day. It became another world to live in. It wasn't until i noticed that, hey it's just a game that sooner or later will be all gone, also it became like a chore to play it, that i thought screw this and it's $13 fee to play. I would log in, spend maybe 5 hours non stop in a party of players trying to gain 1 level!!!! There were thousands of other players who had maxed everything in the game, so there was no point. No longer was it fun, but it was like going online to finish jobs, or make money, so wasted energy. Typical scenario, you wake up on sunday and spend 4 hours killing beasts or mining to make enough money for a piece of armour, it was boring and repetitive. There was no fun part of the game to just have fun, it was all working.
My advice, be careful about these games. When you don't have the game and you read reviews and articles on it, you'll want to play it soooo bad. But don't listen to these impulses, lol try and remember that it's the objective of the advertising to only show you the good things about the game. That's the thing with MMORPG, there is no ending and your objective is to become more powerful and experienced than other players. Take the Matrix Online, which is coming out soon. It looks awsome, fantastic. But, it will compromise of spending hours doing shitty missions and quests to get piecs of matrix code which might allow you to sneak past a guard. Trust me, this half a day spent playing to get this ability won't be fun, it will be like doing a chore!!!!
Yet inside i want that game bad to see what it's like, but im not going to as if i do ill spend another 4 months on it until i realise there are better things to do.
Im sorry i havn't really answered the question, but just advising caution to online games, that can and probally will take over your life until you stop playing it.
Happy gaming

Yeah MMORPGs ruin lives lol. Remember those people that like died from starvation cause they couldn't get off Everquest. Speaking of which, someone I know from my school has 250+ days log on time on that game.
I think it gets so addictive because it's a place that anyone can be super powerful, given enough play time. But i mean, what good will your character be once the game dies off??
How much of that time playing was fun? and how much was spent doing boring missions/character building?
I like those boring, repetetive missions to make you all powerful. :P
Runescape kicks ass, what are you talking about? :-P
I don't really know any others except ones you pay for. :|
It'd be badass if you made your own MMORPG, then you could make your character massively powerful, out of the bounds of normal players. :P
That'd rock.
Heh I used to play SWG, god that game sucked after a while... I wanted to be a Droid Engineer, but the profession was so screwed! Droids where so useless... heh. I got an offer for a 10 day free period again a while back but didnt even bother to reinstall SWG for it, even though they fixed alot of stuff.
Yeh they just lose they're lust after a while, when you can't be bothered anymore.
You're out of luck. Should have played Whispers in Akarra when it existed.
I knew a friend who flunked out of Yale playing everquest.
It's impossible to flunk out of Yale with all the grade-inflation there.
... heh of course unless you get hooked on Evercrack.
:D
Try MapleStory, just google it, its free to my knowledge.
I did not play EQ, but I played almost all of the other ones. Asheron's call 1, Asheron's call 2, Endless Ages, Earth and beyond, eve online, anarchy online, dark age of camelot, horizons: empire of istaria, neocron, planetside, shadowbane, star wars galaxies. Mostly it was AC 1, AC 2, DAOC, and SWG.
Now EQ 2 is coming out. It looks like it may be fun. I want to buy that next week. I don't have a job so I am sure I can still go to school and play EQ 2 without a problem. Counting travelling and school time I am outside the house 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. That gives me LOADS of play time. At least 6 hours a day, 10 on weekends.
And when I get bored of the game I can sell all my items, money in game for lots of real life money. It is just too bad accounts won't sell anymore. Either way I will make far more than enough to pay the monthly fee.
neocron was fun, played the free beta.
maple story is a bunch of crap, i played a while back, and the graphics suck, the gameplay is crap, its slow, the community is terrble, its just 2d and the battle system is repetetive as hell.
i cant think of a good thing about it, except for the originality in being the first 2d mmorpg, which is probobly down to laziness on the developers side.
Glad to know you loved maple story Damascus
We should develop our own Dreamviews game, like all of us have an animated character, and we go around killing each other with crappy weapons.
EG: There could be mods vs non-mods. They have super big guns, but we have small rusty knives, and there is lots of us, mwhaha
Also, all the nOObs can be like cannon fodder and stuff, or you can hypnotise them to go on suicide missions.
The new Matrix MMORPGs is coming out soon...you can already buy it and start playing it like in a month...before the actual release. I don't know, but it seems like it's gonna be pretty good..
i would play the matrix online but you need a supercomputer to play the damn ting. The requirements are through the roof!
But it does look good,
That's pretty low-end for todays games.Quote:

I've been through about 6,7 matrix online forums, read countless reviews and looked through the game. It looks like it might be a failure. Most people agree that only the fact that it was hugely sucessful on film, with it's big fan base, will keep it alive. On pure game terms, i think it will suck!
What could you do in this Matrix Online?
Get lost in really boring plot curves, I imagine.
