Doesn't seem too practical to know, though.
Yeah, I just thought it might be fun to try and learn it over the summer. . . although, I guess there are other things I could be doing that are more productive.

Isn't Esperanto is more widely spoken?
*checks wikipedia article* You're right. I suppose if I were actually going to go through with this, it would be more useful to learn Esperanto, but I would have to compare the two to see which one I liked better.
I started to learn Esperanto once (same day as I found lojban, heh.) There aren't many people to speak it with though...

I thought about it because it's supposed to be easy to learn - easier than Esperanto even - and good for logical thought. Then again, I'd rather put in the effort and learn a real language. The minute Lojban produces another Dante I'll be sold!

I have never had an interest in learning lojban but I have studied Esperanto a little bit and found it a really cool language. The main problem I found is that it's not practical to learn a language unless you have some other people to speak it with. There are some pretty large online esperanto communities online but I would prefer to have some friends to speak it with in person. Languages can be a good mental exercise but for the huge effort it takes to get to a decent level it's hard to keep the motivation up unless you have some friends involved with it.
Why would you deliberately remove ambiguities from language. They are a source of humor. Obviously you should add sources of humor when creating a language.
