Now, I'd like to see a list of "Some Things A Girl Should Always Do For A Guy."

And for extra points, I want to see it written by a girl.

      Aaaaaand GO!

This is how men and women should act:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swNVzH_2IRQ

In fact it is how they did act in 1947. The inconsistency is that many feminists want to have it all their own way. They expect us to act like Cary Grant, ever the perfect gentlemen, when most of them act like Britney Spears. Take some tips from Loretta Young in that clip and they might stand a chance of actually being treated like a real woman, if they act like one. I do agree with much of what was written other than the sensitive new-age metrosexual crap like reading Jane Austen and going to chick flicks. I’ll do that the day she reads my war books and comes to the drag racing with me.

I do open doors for real women – they love it. Makes them feel like a woman and makes me feel like a man – great! But I only do it for women who have some self-respect, who actually act like women and who treat me with equal respect rather than holding the adversarial “you hopeless men should all treat me like a queen just because I’m a woman” attitude of a spoilt brat feminist.

And this sort of stuff is completely inaccurate:

Dress nice every once & a while. Any girl likes to see her brother/friend/boyfriend/etc. in a well-ironed button-up with some nice slacks.
Not in my experience! Feminists seem to find apathetic slobs irresistible because it’s apparently a sign of manliness in our disordered society. I guess also because women have become more masculine, if they’re going to be attracted to something more masculine than themselves, they will have a hard time stopping short of the Neanderthal. Dress nicely and they just think you’re a nancy.

Feminists are women who never had a man tell them 'no' until they turned ugly. It's a vicious double-standard that can't be beaten with words.

I agree. Chivalry is not dead. It's simply evolved. It's gone from guys doing things like this because it's expected of us, to some guys continuing to do it because certain women carry themselves in a way that deserves "the little things" that some still appreciate.

But when it comes to the type of women that just expect guys to do it for them, and cry out when they don't, so many of them have yet to look inside and realize that there may be a reason why guys aren't capitalizing on opportunities to make them feel special.

I prefer someone who looks sharp. They don't necessarily have to be "fashionable" but I'd much rather see a man in a suit than a guy who doesn't know a belt loop from a lug nut.

I'd like to have a roll of duct tape the next time I see some show-off with his pants hanging around his knees.

Well then I wish there were more women like you around here, Amethyst. Here anyone who knows one end of a cufflink from the other has their sexuality questioned.

Ooooh I'd like to see this list too!

And to be honest I wouldn't know where to start if I were to write one.

      I just don't get it.

I suppose I could say that I open doors for real men, real friends, real loved ones, etc...

      Then, that's okay.

I agree. And you know, fashion in the states is crap, and I didn't realize to what extent until I moved out of the country.

I mean like... wtf is that one about walking closer to the traffic so the puddles don't hit the woman? What next, taking off your $400 leather jacket and covering a small puddle with it so she can step on your jacket with her high heeled shoes instead of walking the one or two feet around the puddle?

This group is SO popular on facebook. I agree that whoever needs a list like this is just socially incompetent to begin with.

      27. When she feels at her worst, tell her she looks her best.
      38. Always be honest with her. No woman wants or likes a dishonest man. If you can't be honest with her, she can't trust you, and shows you don't trust her enough to be honest. Trust, honesty and integrity are just as an integral part of a relationship and just as important as love.

Men have always been the dominant sex because we are stronger emotionally and physically. This can be either a virtue when it is used wisely, or a vice when it is abused. In an ordered society, men will use their dominant position to protect women. It is the responsibility that comes along with being put in the dominant position. It is the same as in the army - the officer has been put in a position of power over his soldiers. As a result, his responsibility is to ensure the safety of his soldiers, and put their welfare above his own at all times. Likewise, when a man opens a door for a woman, he is saying "I am stronger than you, but I will use my power to serve you." That is the historical/traditional basis for why men open doors for women, and why women don't open doors for men. It is the same reason why women and children were traditionally evacuated from a sinking vessel first - the strong protect the vulnerable.

I acknowledge of course that feminism refuses to admit the reality that men are stronger than women, and that's the self-defeating aspect of it. If men offer to put women first, feminism discourages women from accepting the offer, calling it patronising. So men have become less inclined to put women first, yet (try as feminists might to change the natural order) men remain in the stronger position. And then feminists wonder why so many men end up becoming abusive bastards.

FIRST of all, where is your proof that men are stronger emotionally? I never thought I'd hear something like that in this day and age.

Second, show me a feminist who doesn't acknowledge that men, on average, are physically stronger. Because I definitely haven't met one.

And finally, one crucial point is that physical strength does not matter in our current society (unless maybe you are living in a third world country, in which case it's understandable). How many times in your life will you need to rescue a damsel in distress using your bulging arm muscles?
