Some Things A Guy Should Always Do For a Girl, Period (from facebook)

The list is completely fine on every aspect, except for one. Why THE HECK do girls worry so much about cursing? C'mon, you know the guy meant no offence *at all* when saying it. Many a times, curses are the most sincere words you'll get from a man.

It is understandable that cursing may offend older people, because in their time things were different, and I do mind my words when surrounded by older people, but girls of my age can understand where I come from suck my dick.

I'd much rather stay with a man who doesn't mind my cursing. Girls are bitches. Fuck girls who dislike cursing. Antiquate morons.

Yes, I would break up with someone because of this. As quick as possible.

I'm not going to argue about the morality of cursing vs non-cursing, but I personally find it disrespectful when used unnecessarily. It's the same with making crude jokes. I'm not going to bite your head off for it, but I don't find it necessary to say such things in polite conversation. I enjoy it when anyone takes the time to think about what they say when they're around other people.

Seriously, I don't *understand* how people take offence on cursing. Most times it's just friendly provocation between boys, and the other times used to show frustration, deception or the like.

I take offence on what people mean, not on words people say. I would agree that prejudicial jokes should be minded, since they are indeed offensive, but things like sex reference are completely okay with most people (except elderly and children, as I said before).

It's just like a little situation I had with my aunt. All my family would say "aunt Nelia", and I started calling her just Nelia. She said she didn't want me to call her that as she thought it disrespectful. I was like "so what, calling you by your name is disrespectful? I don't see the word 'aunt' meaning respect not here in a hundred years." Then my mother came in and told me to respect her and call her aunt Nelia. From that day on I've only been calling my mother by her name, and hell if she dislikes any bit of it.

I had a similar situation with my uncle. Usually, we all call him uncle, but my mom and everyone calls him "G," which is his nickname. My uncle and I are pretty close, and I thought it was cool, so I started calling him G, also. But then I heard from my mom that he told her he didn't like me calling him that, and didn't think it was very respectful.

Honestly, I didn't see what the big deal is...but where you and I differ is that I understand that it's a custom, and I don't have a problem respecting that. As far as moms and dads are concerned: being a mother or father is often a very big deal - something many people are very proud of. Part of a child showing their parents love and respect is recognizing them as mom and dad. Whether you find something disrespectful to someone else or not is kind of irrelevant. If you really care about that person, you will listen to what they find disrespectful. Maybe it's just the way they are conditioned? Who cares? I think it's wrong to blatantly disrespect someone over something so trivial, when it obviously means a lot to them.

But that's just me.

As far as cursing, I think there is a time and a place. I have no problem with talking for hours on end without cursing a single time, but if I'm in a comfortable environment and just bullshitting with friends or peers, I'll say "fuck" every 10 seconds. Sometimes, depending on the person, I'll try to gauge whether or not it's something that's going to cause a problem before I started spitting cuss words, but in a social situation, I'll usually just let it fly.

If I'm talking to an adult, I see absolutely no reason at all that they should be offended for me saying "That Shit Was Fucking AWESOME."
