It depends on my destination and how much time I had to get there. If both roads led to the same place and I had time to explore, probably the road less traveled. I'd rather ask someone who'd taken that road before, though, to make sure it wasn't going to be disappointing. I'd rather not suddenly come across a "Bridge Out!" sign half-way down the road.

Another option is I would walk over to the river and catch some fish. Then I'd bring them back to the side of the road, build a fire, and invite travelers to join me before they make their decision as to which road to take.

Forget your roads. I make my own path. Ditto. If there are two roads that converge at a single point, it would seem to me there's a good possibility that something interesting lies in between. Maybe it would be a lake, or secret warehouse of sorts. Otherwise people probably wouldn't take the time to build around it. They'd just push their way on through, regardless of what wildlife/habitats they demolished. Besides roads are dirty and dangerous to walk on. Grass or dirt is much better for travelling in my opinion. Less chance of running into any undesirable company, and better odds of travelling through natural surroundings.

As Acatale said, there's bound to be something interesting between the paths. Of course, it may just be an impassable cliff, but then again, that impassable cliff might just have an amazingly beautiful waterfall pouring off its face and forming a crystal-clear deep pool beneath it, for my bathing pleasure. In fact, an (also amazingly beautiful, of course) young woman may have beat me to it. You just never know.
