lol I get that reaction a lot.
For someone outside the religion it's unfathomable and seems unusually cruel.
But I completely understand and agree with the reasons why it has to be that way.
Of course, emergency situations don't count. When I tried killing myself last year, I called my bestfriend to say goodbye. When I didn't succeed, I called an Elder for him to let my friend know I was okay but he told me that I should call her myself.
I was very grateful for that contact.
I simply can't "hang out" with members or do things like shopping or chatting. I can still attend meetings and talk to the Elders whenever I want though.
