The main reason why you get these sorts of comments is because YouTube appeals to the lowest common denominator. It doesn't do so intentionally, like a TV network does, but it's the concept of being able to post a video of yourself online and being able to watch a video of just about anything short of porn (there's PornTube for that) that appeals to everyone who can use a computer. Because it appeals to all maturity and intellectual levels, you get a bunch more stupid 13 year olds posting comments than you would find elsewhere.

The dumbest comment I've ever seen on the internet wasn't posted on YouTube. It was on an IMDb board for Michael Emerson. It must be long gone now, so I can't drag it up again, but it was during the Lost Emmy buzz the other year when both Terry O'Quinn and Michael were nominated as Best Supporting Actors for Lost.

It went something like this:

Give Locke the Emmy?? How could Locke ever deserve an Emmy, after all he's done?? He blew up the sub, murdered Boone, tries to keep everyone else marooned on the island... I hate Locke, so I would never give him an Emmy. Ben deserves it so much more."

I don't know whether that's a special feat of the acting credits of Terry O'Quinn or a special feat in new lows of human retardation.
