Tell me you most treasured material possession

Title speaks for itself. Could be something expensive or sentimental.

If I can mention an intended one:

When I get the time, money and resources, I will personally oversee the construction of a sword, build completely from the ground up to my exact specifications.

You obviously have some sort of obsession with swords. But it would be cool to have one.

Probably my entire collection of artwork and musical projects. Most of it is on my hard-drive, but I've got some backup discs and the original paper copies of my artwork, but I think it all counts as one thing, when looked at as a collection.

Aside from that, probably my dad's ring and necklace.

Hard to say, really hard to say. I feel as if I should pick one of the family heirlooms that is now mine, but most of the really meaningful and important ones still belong to my father, so I'm gonna have to say my iPod. Of all the things I own it has given me the most hours of enjoyment, I use it every day, and I would really really miss it.

I do. Also, besides the fact that swords are historical and intrinsic, not to mention heirlooms, anyone that tries to break in and pull anything in my house is going to have a new hole to breathe out of.

By the way, it's not going to be a katana. Hate me katana people. I don't care. It's not that I hate katanas, it's just that I hate katana fanatics who claim that katanas are better than lightsabers and could cream any other weapon, and citing a multitde of questionable sources as to why samurai and ninjas could wipe out a modern-day platoon, down air strikes and cut through tank armor. If a longsword was my milkshake, and a katana was your milkshake, and I have a straw, there it is, my straw... my straw reaches acrooooooooss the room, and drinks your milkshake. I... DRINK... YOUR... MILK-SHAKE. (slurping) I DRINK IT UP!!!

My electric guitar is my favourite possession. I love it, it's just so great, it's so beautiful and shiny. I love just looking at it, I was so happy when I got it, it's my baby. I love the idea of being able to make something from nothing, and just making music in general.

A small batch of pictures in a drawer under my computer and a small stuffed bear that sits atop my computer where the first things to come to mind.

LOL. At first I was like "Hate me katana people? Who cares if it's not a katana?" But then I realized that you're right, and there are those people that think katanas are like the uber-blade. I love my katana, but I'd be more willing to part with it than some of my other blades.

Of course, it's not a high-end, top-of-the-line katana, but still...

I also have to add my electric guitar to my last post, though I kind of count it on the same level as the rest of my art/music work, because what is the ability to create art without the medium?

I'd have to anything pertaining to my conworld, whether it be some important fact I scribbled down in an epiphanic moment, the document I've been working on detailing its dynamics, or the story I've been working on.

I'm not sure... I'm pretty possessive, but I don't especially care about one certain thing...

      Maybe my movies?

      Uh, no.

All they are about is the functioning, history, mechanics, and maps of my conworlds (All of which failed to progress save for one I am still working on) plus all of the various languages I tried to create.

It also details the lives of a few hundred persons and their relation to each other and importance(s) in the conworlds.

So no, it's harldy a diary.

That's be like calling a history book you had written a diary.

I can't think of anything. There's an afghan blanket, my favorite blanket, that my roommate's friend borrowed without asking, and I was upset about that for a couple days, then I let go and it came back. Any of my big instruments would be a blow--cajon, didge or theremin.

Easily the thing that would have the biggest lifestyle impact and stands the most chance of actually dying is my PC--I couldn't afford a decent replacement right now. Still, I would have limited internet access on my phone (limited because it's slow and cramped), and the result might just be more reading, music, and creative projects rather than games, movies and tv.

No matter what though, even if I lost my arms and legs, I know I would adapt and move on. Eventually you lose everything, right?
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

Exactly. A friend of mine brought up the question "If you were stranded on a desert island, and could only have a handful of things with you, what would they be?" I realized then how much I really don't care too much about material possessions (well, I knew it before, but never truly brought it into question). My answer was just an acoustic guitar, paper and drawing utensils. When it comes down to it, there aren't many material possessions that aren't replaceable to some extent.

I always find it odd that people rarely choose useful items such as a satellite phone and a GPS.

Well, the question was about things that I already possess.
      Of those, I have neither.

...though my cellphone probably has a transponder in it. I dunno.

But, damnit, it's a philosophical question! Getting off the island isn't an option!

I would say my stories and, like Seismosaur, what I have written down for my own language, but I also realized that if necessary, I could re-write them. Sure I've put hours and hours and hours of work into them, but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

I'd have to say a number of pictures, letters, and postcards from friends and family are my most treasured possessions, especially those of/from a friend and mentor who passes away a few years ago. I'd also include some jewelery that friends have given to me as well.

      My collection of books.

my most prized possesions aren't replaceable
I would say my journals, and when that's lost there's no getting back the words that were written in there. There's no way i would remember.

I sure hope I never lose those. But I think they're pretty safe. I have them locked in a safe/box type thing because my neighbors would read them whenever they were in my room.

my ipod takes second place, although that shouldn't be that big of a deal, especially since those can get lost or stolen pretty easily.
