Ah, there you are. :cooler:
Ok. I won't close it until you're ready. No rush.

I'll do it shortly. as soon as I'm finished suffering this hangover:P
pj.. you cut me to the quick.. that so-called artificial sound is just my right hand technique.. plucking harmonic chords, plus a tad of chorus+echo. That track was an exercise in doing seven harmonics in a row, and what I would call the lead track was me messing around with a lead sound over the top.. just me messing around..
.. but hell.. maybe it DOES sound artificial! Heh..
and last but not least.. I had no idea that we weren't supposed to double track, if that is indeed the case? Sorry, if so.. I just didn't know.

k here's my submission. It's done with delay, i play it at a certain speed so it harmonizes with itself.
Hey - artificial harmonics is a technique, and a very difficult one. One of my heroes, Larry Coryell, does it with full chords like that and it blows me away! There is NOTHING derogatory about artificial harmonics. I can only barely do it, and not with full chords.
And O - regarding the tracking... it seems to me that so long as it isn't disallowed and we explicitly SAY we're doing it, it's fine. So long as listeners understand that it isn't one guy playing all that at the same time. I had an extra track for the solo bit in last week's contest, of course...
And Ranma - that's really a cool piece. I feel kind of dirty pointing out that it's 45 seconds long though.
Ok, just so we're clear on how we'll space these contests: We'll have up to a (5 day) week to turn in future entries, should you decide to take a full week. If you want to turn it in early, you're welcome to it. If all entered participants are finished before the week is up, then voting can go ahead and start - which is why this week was a short one.
Also, with your entries, also put into your post any text/description that you would like to show up with your entry in the voting threads, because I'm just going to be copy/pasting the entry posts, over there, much like I did with this week's. (I didn't quite do them verbatim, this week, but from now on they will go over there with whatever you type into your post.)
There should be set days for everything. Something like:
Monday - Get assignment (We could discuss during the week what the next one will be)
Sunday - Due date
The next Monday - Put up the voting page and give the next assignment
Also, like in this week, since everybody submitted their entries this early, I think that it should stay open just in case there's any surprise random entries (like I will end up being sometime).
I'm gonna start submitting entries once I get my new Gretsch and a camera to record myself. Shouldn't be too far off.
That sounds good. It just seemed like the full 5 days would have been a while to wait, on this assignment, since everyone seemed to be turning theirs in so early, and it was just a 30 second tune. That sounds like a good format, though. I think voting is still gonna only be open for 3-4 days, though. Seven is a long time to wait, don'tcha think?
This is for you Lucid Seeker. Now you have good reason to believe this Forum sucks.

lol Howie that was hilarious!
the first 3 seconds almost sound like a celtic folk tune.
So, next category? I actually want to get in on this one.
CB i think it's a blues one next.
Yeah, let's start thinking of a new one. Hopefully we can have one picked out by the end of the night.
So...what do you think, blues? Metal? Folk? Original composition? Existing work? I dunno. There's so much to choose from, and I've always been terrible at planning. Lol. What would you guys prefer?
Maybe we could test out our singing.
how about folk. It's a different genre. you can spice it up anyway you like.
Another idea i had was play your favorite classic rock riff or solo.
Urgh, folk. No thanks.
Favourite solo sounds good.
Hmm. Ok. Since we haven't had very much input, we'll go with "rock solo of your choice."
Doesn't matter how long it is, whether it's original or one that's already out there. The vote thread is going up on Monday of next week, so you must either have your file submitted by the the time it's posted!
