I think a minute time limit is a good idea. I can only take so much noodling; I'm not into solos as much as I once was. I edited a copy of that Hey Joe mp3 to last 32 bars, or about 50 seconds. You can download the mp3 here. Does this sound good to everyone as the final backing track?Quote:

O answered the question, but I just want to make sure that you understand that the task is to compose a solo, not improvise one. This means that every note should be planned in advance rather than made up on the fly.Quote:

Unfortunately, I've been so damn busy that I've hardly had free time to do anything, let alone compose the solo. :? I'm gonna try to get one done tonight. Is anyone else ready with theirs?
I'm still not ready either. It snowed a few inches and I have to walk to the place where I record, so I've been being lazy. I'll do something tommarow hopefully, if not I have to go there on Monday so I should have something by then.

Sorry, but it's just not looking good for me (in terms of getting an entry for this one done any time soon). Things have been really busy around here for me lately since my classes just started again and my daughter is staying with me full time for the next couple of weeks. I wouldn't even be able to put in my best effort to compose something. (I've never been much of a composer, as of yet. Heh.) Don't let me stop you, though, if there are more of you that want to finish this one out.
Oh, and TJ (you may have figured it out by now, but) the task is to compose a solo to that Hey Joe backing track snippet that DuB posted a few posts above.
Ah thanks, O! Actually I hadn't realized that - I was skimming through for something in bold and thought maybe it was to just record a solo. I'll download the mp3 when I get home. I'll probably stay in tonight (sucks, I know, but it's fkn freezing out!) so I should have some time to fondle my 6-string a bit. (let there be no confusion, that is a "6" - not a "G" )

Nothing from me... my guitar cable broke >_< That's right, my second expensive fender cable somehow had a bend to it when I got home one day... a bend which so happens to totally kill the signal from the amp to the guitar. Hopefully I will get a new one next week! :S
Bagh! I never followed through on playing this Friday - I didn't do much of any of the things I set out to do, honestly :(
Hey SomeD - don't toss that cable just yet! Cut the portion of the bent part out (discard it), then re-attach the ends back (twist tie) of the two halves, band it with electrical tape and you should be good to go! (Done that many a time over the years, saves $$ and gets you up and playing again until you get new cable). :pirate:Quote:
