what is going to happen in the next generation of "DV'ers"? will DV ever die? lIke, what do you think will happen when we all die and it's a whole new era of DV? it's like, well, how would DV be withought Grod, GA, Mes, Webmaster, Clarity, and the rest allz? Who is gouing to replace us? Seems weird. If DV died......DV would be dead. it's hard to think. and how would it die? Would all the mods and admins get mad at each other and close it down or what? now im scared manz. . .
When we all die and the new gen comes, who knows what theyre goiing to do with the site? or what will they think? Whats going to happen with all the threads? will it all be closed and just locked down? hmmm...

Forums don't work on the concept of 'when people die.' They work on the concept of when people leave. DV already seems to be entering a new sort of era, you just have to know where to look to see the signs of it.

And when new people come, they don't ascend into positions of power, look at the old stuff, and decide to close it all.

well, but what happens when we DO die? When we are all gone? How do you think the new people ..... will be like? or do? or... what? idk. just when all of us are gone. What do u think it will be?

Are you expecting everyone on DV to just up and die suddenly? If you are, I'd like to kindly ask you to GTFO before you kill us all.

Are you expecting to stay around DV for teh remainder of your life? I doubt many people are planning to stay around until they day. People will leave, while new people come and learn the ways here. That's how it works. Period. It works like that on every forum. New people come, become members and older members eventually leave.

Seriously. That's all there is to it. New people come, older people leave. Rinse and repeat.

Just look at older members that don't post any more. Kaniaz, whoever. People get phased out gradually as they leave the forum, generations don't just 'disappear'. It evolves as people come and go, not in sudden shifts. You don't blink and say, "Whoa, Mes isn't here. Things have changed."
It happens slowly, in stages, and you adapt with it. Usually. You might look back and think about how different things have become, but it shouldn't be a 'weird' thing.

Like you might move from one circle of friends to another, gradually, or add friends and lose friends. It happens slowly, usually, in a fairly natural fashion.

...what am I talking about, a forum without Siиdяed? You guys would freak out.

I agree, although whether this is a change for the better is yet to be seen. I do know however that this is a far different DV to the DV I joined.

The people who were here when I joined are pretty much all gone now. That was close to four years ago. In another four years, there will probably be an almost entirely different clientele here.

How much different was it from then to now?

I agree. A lot of the current postwhores (sorry, contributors) at the moment only joined in 2007. Heck, even the OP joined in November 2007, so I see no cause for him or any others like him to reminisce. It would, worryingly, suggest that for most DV is a fleeting love affair and that in a few months we'll be swamped by the 2008 crowd, and the 2007 lot will fade away.

There is no new generation. The new generation arrives everyday. We constantly change. Large forums are often dynamic enough to handle whatever changes the userbase contains. Especially because this is a sensible forum run by (and containing) people over the age of 20.

When everyone dies, the internet will have evolved in a new manner. There will be no more keyboards, monitors, or computers. I'm sure they'll find a way to create artificial telepathy by the time we die.
