Awesome. Man, I've been hearing a lot about that Universe show on TV. Hmmm.

I've been looking for a really good pic like that to use as my desktop. For some odd reason though, there are very few out there that fit my resolution (1200 x 800). Or maybe I'm going crazy.

Yeah if you're interested in that kinda stuff, you should definitely check it out. I love astronomy and I was learning LOTS of new things I've never heard of before. Really a great show with great footage and technology to explain difficult concepts. I forget what night that was on... must make a mental note to catch it again. Is it a series? or a one time thing?

This picture almost made me cry, though you might not find it particularly impressive - get this:

      Holy. Shit.

In the latest Scientific American they explain that in 2008 will start the new era of physics.
A Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope, (GLAST) will open up part of the electromagnetic spectrum never before explored.

      I found a link more about GLAST @ www.nasa.gov/glast

      I seem very small.

I've seen that image before but I never knew that! It's difficult to even comprehend that vastness.

And we're the only intelligent life in the Universe, right? pffft

Jesus. That's insane. Like Burns, I've seen the pic before, but to know it was such a small scope, compared to the overall sky, is just....wow.

This sort of stuff is amazing. Makes you realise that we're very small where everything in space is put into consideration. Suddenly all the problems just seem to disappear.

If we are a mistake then yes, that can be easy to figure out.

WHOAAAAA!!!! are those REAL photos. If so, HOLY CRAP!
      it looks like paints!
      Yes, they are real.

About the guy mentioning a golf ball to a basketball to represent us and the sun. Try this out...the sun is the biggest star we know, and a golfball is us. That's how big the biggest star is to earth. We are a golfball, and the sun is the biggest star. We are small and insignificant nomatter how much money we have.

only thing that really amazes me is looking into space is checking the past rather then real time.

If there actually "is" life out there then i'm sure the ultimate aliens are laughing at us being amazed and how small advancements we have done compared to them, the all mighty all knowing aliens. then once we become that we will be like "meh".

Yeah, its hard to believe that they are real and not paintings or something. I love space/nebula pics.
