In my experience, using cards has always been faster.
Giving a few coins should be faster than taking out a card, waiting for the machine to boot up, punching in your number, waiting for the machine to process, waiting for the little paper slip and putting away your card...

Quick and efficient ? Oh yeah, and we have freaking coins for dollars!
No, slow credit card machines. Anyway you are right though, I suppose. However, it's not slower to the point where people have to borrow cash from me instead of using their card.
That's the other thing. People who forget to pay me back.
I don't mind if it's my good friend, I really don't. But people that I dont even know that well? I just consider it rude. I'll say it once, jokingly "You forgot to pay me back haha". After that, if they don't pay me back, that just makes them rude with bad manners.
