Hello all!
Before I start, I'd like to give a "Happy Halloween!" shout to everyone. So:
"Happy Halloween!"
Oky doky. This thread hardly needs explaining. Post your scary stories here, whether fact, fiction or a local legend from your area.
I wasn't sure on where to put this thread so, mods, move it if you like.
I'll begin with a little thing I know that supposedly happened where I grew up although I think many places claim it originated in their area just for the fun of it. It really doesn't have the same effect when written out but I'll share it anyway. Here we go:
-----------------------------------------------
A young couple were driving across the moors in a midnight rain storm. The roads were deserted and the only light was coming from the car's headlights. The rain pelted down onto the car roof heavily when there was a sudden splutter that came from the car's hood. The man pulled over as steam billowed from the front of the car.
"Ah crap!" he said, "I'm gonna get soaked!"
"What's up with the car?" his wife said.
"Not sure but I'll have a look."
The man got opened his door and a strong wind howled itself into the car.
"Stay in the car, love," he said, "It's horrible out here." After looking at the engine he went to the back to get his toolbox.
The woman sat in the car in silence, watching the rain pour down the window. She had just begun to think that he was taking a long time at the rear of the car when there was a heavy THUD! on the roof. She didn't know what to think and put it down to a small piece of debris caught inthe gusts. Suddenly it happend again, a clear, hard THUD! sounded on the roof. She assumed it must be her husband on the roof but could think of no reason why he would be clambering over the top of the car.
She was about to get out and see what was going on when she saw a pulsing set of lights in the disctance, blue and red. She squinted hard and noticed it was coming from six police cars and an ambulance approaching her. They stopped about fifty feet in front of her and the officers stepped out. One took out a megaphone and spoke to her.
"Get out of the vehicle and walk slowly towards us!" he yelled.
She thought she was in some kind of trouble with the law and began panicing, trying to remember if she had done something wrong recently, when suddenly he added:
"...and whatever you do, don't look back. I repeat, do not turn around!"
It now occurred to her that she was in some kind of danger but had no idea what. Another THUD! sounded on the roof as she slowly opened her door.
She stepped out of the car, shaking a little and began to walk, slowly, towards the police. When she beame within a few strides she could no longer help herself. She whirled around, just as she reached the armed officers, only to be greeted with a horrific sight.
On the roof of the car there wa a frightening looking man. He was wearing a straight jacket that had been torn, to free his arms, and had a terrifying grin on his face. He looked blindly into mid-air. It took no genius to see that this man was psychotic. In his hand was an object of some sort that he was bouncing on the car roof with a heavy thud.
"What is that in his hand?" thought the woman. She looked closely, only to be met by a familiar face. Through the vision-blurring rain, she could now see plainly, it was the severed head of her dear husband.
THUD!
-----------------------------------------------
Again, I'll say, I think it has a lot less efect when typed out than when it's told by word of mouth but it's only a starter. I have some better ones for later. Tell your friends about this thread! ... because I don't have any ...
