What Dream Views Off Topic Discussion regulars from 2004 to 2009 still come here? Who from that era, the golden age of Dream Views Off Topic Discussion, just checked in for the first time in a long time and saw this thread? I don't come here much any more, but here I am right now. If any of you show up in here, hello again. Welcome back, unless you never left. If that is the case, I still say hello again. If you take off again, always remember that you can come back to this thread whenever and maybe run into some old regulars. Even if it is a ghost town in here, you can change that by telling us you are here. If you leave, your post will still be here. Then others can say hello to you, making their posts here also. After a lot of that, a lot of posts will be here, and this will be even more of a good place to check in and say hello. That makes this a good place to check in and say hello in the first place. Well, I guess the old crew has pretty much abandoned this place. I think it was in 2010 when there was a Dream Views Awards presentation in a thread. I won "Most Likely to Remain at Dream Views." I guess that was pretty insightful.

All right, we've got one other person from that era here. I remember the other folks from the next wave. It looks like the past did survive on some level.

People leave because, I guess, either life gets in the way or they run out of things to talk about

I wish this place would start buzzing with activity again. Used to feel like a second home, now it feels like an abandoned temple.

I pop in from time to time. My phone really don't like this site because I couldn't log in. Life has been okay...I had to rebuild my computer from the ground up. She still does have a modem...so I'm not sure about getting all active. I still communicate with a couple of DVers from time to time. I miss you guys...I'll have to get in chat at least one time with some oldies before this year ends.

Cool. I'm glad you still come around. The past isn't as far gone as I thought. I wondered for a while why Off-Topic Discussion slowed down so much. It was booming for a while. I now think it's because of the rise of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites. Facebook really took off in 2009 and got even bigger in 2010. That is when Off-Topic Discussion started getting a lot less active. I don't think that is a coincidence. Discussion forums as social media just aren't the big craze they used to be. This was my favorite place on the internet for a few years. There were so many eccentric people posting really entertaining stuff. It is still really entertaining, but less active. I will still be checking in here from time to time.

I had a conversation with my friend about how the internet has gotten so corralled these days. I check about two to three different sites regularly excluding porn. 10 years ago, I used to surf everything. Now a days, everything is getting reshared, retweed and reblogged. We live in a world where companies are hacking other companies and the internet seems smaller. Yes there are still tons of things to do on it, and obviously everyone is connected. But the amount of exploration seems funneled in my opinion.
