Your Harry Potter Wand

Lisa's thread in senseless about Chris using a wand reminded me I wanted to start this thread.

What would your wand be? Wood, length, core. There are some cool websites that give good descriptions of the different elements, I'm just too lazy to link to them at the moment, so if someone else wants to...please do hehe.

Mine is Rosewood (I wanted Ash, but Rosewood was what we got at the craft store), Unicorn Tail Core, 8.5" ...very strong, for the pure of heart, a bit stubborn, excellent for spells and jinxes. :D

Rtex was here just last week and we both started making our wands. They totally kick ASS. I'm going to have to take a picture of mine when it's completely done. We're going to finish them when he comes back up here in a few weeks.

Burns, you need to make a wand. Or I could make one for you. We found these awesome 10" dark rosewood knitting needles at the craft store to use as a base, sanded them down, etc. Rtex found a really cool resin talon and used my clay to mold it into a really kick ass handle for a hippogrif talon core. How cool is that? Yes we're total dorks and love it!!!


edit: p.s. I feel naked now if I'm not carrying my wand around with me! Haha...

Ebony. 9" long, tapered but otherwise unembellished. Hydrogen core. Leather tip so it can double as a short cue stick in tight situations.

I have 2 wands already, actually.

One is oak that I carved from a fallen branch from my favorite tree in my backyard. I want to carve a couple runes in it, but I still haven't decided which ones yet.

haha, but seriously, if I could choose a REAL wand like Harry Potter's, it would be oak, 14" long, and would contain a phoenix feather. :)

If we were choosing wands, I'd go with... 10" ebony with dragon heartstring core.

it would be laurel for sure, but no idea of what inside (what is a demiguise?)
.... maybe inside it could be centaur tail hair, but i doubt centaurs would donate hair!

GreenOak's Wand Test gave me a phoenix feather core as well, but also 3 Woods for my wand, Apple, holly and Alder. I don't really know why, perhaps I'm good to wield all 3. At once. :D

Alder with Dragon Heartstring-
Very strong, but can be intemperate and rigid. Good for battle spells, provides exceptionally strong protection for the family. Acceptable for transfiguration but not for transforming of complex or small objects. Not suitable for light and easy charms. Using for dark practice is possible, but not advisable. This wand does best in classic 'war' spells.

Cedar with Dragon Heartstring-
Very strong and steady, somewhat hard and inert. This wand is good mainly in the aspects of magic arts that suppose dealing with material structure of objects. E.g. Transfiguration (Though it lacks preciseness a little). Aside from that, it is a very powerful protective wand. It does well both in attack and in defense. Oak with Dragon Heartstring-
This wand is exceptionally strong. Good for power-oriented spells. Can be used for massive destruction. Might be too rigid and hard to control. Not suitable for workings which require preciseness and subtle gradations. Acceptable for simple power-involving dark practices.
