Its hard to tell how much influence adults (read: producers) actually had on what went on there. Lord of the flies is a believable description of what would happen if children were left to themselves, and there are deaths involved. I'm sure there were many times during the process of making that show when adults had to step in and make changes based on safety and also just because the children weren't making any progress on some particular issue.

"Lord of the Flies" is just as much an item of entertainment as this - besides, it was a Horror, and I really don't think in the real world kids would resort to so much violence =( This is awesome, in my opinion. Sure, it's probably staged a little, but hell - so is everything else on TV. Brilliant concept.

I think they'd resort to violence if they were stuck on an island. here they clearly have technology and food and all that. This doesn't seem realistic at *all * though. I mean, the whole "assigning" jobs thing. And a reward such as a video arcade or whatever. Also, the 'pub' for 5 cents for a root beer. Doesn't sound like a real business unless they are trying to start a city with an incredibly deflated currency. It would be much more interesting if they had real businesses and let them circulate a set amount of currency and stuff. Just throw them in a city and let them fend for themselves. and ROFL at the GOLDEN STAR and GROUP HUG
