Anyone Ever Been In The Military?

College is great, but freshman year is coming to an end and i have seen what college offers (socially). I am not impressed. I am sick of living a pampered life without any realization of true suffering. The world i live in is not the real world.

Just got a couple questions for y'all. Hit me up

It is your real world if you currently live in it. But if you dislike it, join the military or do something that seems to have more to offer.

Personally, I would never join the military, as I would put my own life at stake. Death may be really shitty, so it is best to not be foolish and risk one's life.

And I don't think suffering just because others do makes much sense. Their problems are none of yours. If you want to help them, send cash to help starving kids in Africa so you can receive the "I-have-just-been-a-good-guy"-emotion.

The Military really never appealed to me, especially the way it is today. I've always thought of it as something that "molds" people into pawns for the chess board of America, but if that's what you want, then that's fine.

Just make sure you know what you're getting into before making any important decisions.

I think the military world may be slightly more 'real', but still very one-side-of the story, or even less. If you really care about the world, you should go to some 3rd world country and help with aid, like dig some water-holes in villages, or help defuse land-mines or something. I am sure there is a program for that.

Or join the army, and get traumatized : / War is a bitch, there are better ways to enrichen ones (social) knowledge.

Generally sending money to starving kids in Africa doesn't work. It never gets there. If you send it, you're more than likely furthering the advancements of the rich, who don't help the needy.

Anyway, I applied to join the Air Force here in South Africa. I didn't get in coz I have mild hearing loss over a certain frequency, but I was dying to get in I wanted nothing more than to fly, be part of the military life and serve my country.

Someone asked me while I was at the selection process if I didn't get in would I try get in the USAF, or the RAF. I would do the RAF if my hearing were better, but no way in hell could anyone ever persuade me to fly or fight for the USA. The USAF are a bunch of woppelheads, so is the american government.

If you want to make a difference, and find something "real" come to Africa, and spend some time in Sudan or Uganda or somewhere you can make a difference, and see how "real" it is.
