I wonder if this will ever come into service. It would still hurt like hell, but you'd still live (hopefully). |

Just today I happened to watch this thing on tv talking about new body armor and the guy was testing it. He was all "This armor stops everything and is great" and he kept shooting it over and over and it stopped everything. That show really bugged me because the guy never tested the blunt trauma caused by the impact. Its not enough to just stop the bullet from piercing the armor, you need to slow it down or it might kill you anyway. |

Well hopefully if technology keeps advancing we but we keep having wars (seems a bit contradictory) that we will not have as many infantry in the battle field. |
|
Actually this isn't that new. |
|
That reminds me of this guy and his "soldier" suit of armour. He made it from his grizzly protection suit if I understood correctly. |
|
That sounds pretty cool, I wonder what sort of stuff there will be in 50 years time... |

I could not watch the video, but I just had to add this: |

Just looking at that "grizzly armor," I wouldn't be worried about the armor going wrong, but when you're talking about impacts like that (being hit by a bat, log, car, etc.) there's more than one impact taking place. Sure, there's the impact of your body within the suit, but there's also the impact that takes place between the organs and inside of the body. If you get hit hard enough, no amount of armor is going to save you. |

Yeah, that Bear Suit v2.0 was pretty hilarious. Still, not the kind of thing I'd want to run into in a dark alley. I'm pretty sure someone fighting them would laugh until their lungs collapsed or pass out. Or, you know, crap their pants and run. Maybe both. |

Interesting indeed, it really makes you think about how advance we will be in technology in the next century or so. Of course something else will be created to penetrate it. |

I love the idea of the troops being more safe.... but there's 2 major weakness's to this. |
|
Turret gunners in HMMWVs use them. They're not doing much room clearing sitting up in that turret, so falling over and getting shot in the nuts isn't a problem. |

I was watching a show called "Future Weapons" and ironically it showed a body armor called "dragon skin" which after getting shot with high calibur rounds can also stop one of the strongest gernades. |
