I love taking a walk in the dead of night! 3-4am is the best time, to me it feels like I'm dreaming because there is just virtually no sound nobody is around barely any cars. does anybody else know what I mean?

Ah, yes, I know what you mean. The best times are when it's really foggy, so that you can only see for about a block or so. It makes the world seem very small, empty and dream like.

There's this awesome park near my house where I walk my dog. The best time to get that "surreal" feeling is in the dead of winter, at dusk.

I take her there when I get home from work, and it is soooo dreamlike, I use it as a way to practice reality checks (since I rarely perform them anyway).

The combination of: the early darkness at that time of year, plus the fact that there are no birds or other noises, and the desolation there since most people stay indoors at that time of year make it really dreamlike. Sometimes its as if you can the snow falling.

awsome! I was gonna start a thread like this.

I do this all the time. I can walk around down the middle of the road for hours around where I live and not see a single person or car.

yeah and when its foggy the street lights all look so cool.

I would love doing that, if I lived in place where it felt safe to do so. Also Josh, I'm pretty sure you're under 18 -- I don't know what the laws are where you live, but make sure you don't get busted for a curfew violation.

Thank you for your concern, but there is nothing like that where I live.

I just got back from one actually. It was raining a bit and I was feeling lonely, a walk always makes me feel better

Speaking of deserted dream-like towns at night. It's always cool (and slightly eerie ) to walk around on cristmas day, when everyone's home with their families. We used this to go skating on the by-pass a few years ago! (I don't know what the US equivelant is for a bypass so lets just say four lane road)

When I lived in Niagara Falls I'd stroll around the actual falls at like 1 or 3 am. It'd be totally deserted gorgeous, especially if the moon was out and hanging low on the horizon.

I used to walk alone at night all the time. I did it again just a few nights ago and it was awesome. No brats yelling and screaming in the streets, no crackheads staggering about, no dogs yipping and snarling about the nieghborhood. Its so peaceful.

The world is an entirely different place at night.

Ah, now THAT would be cool - to be around such a great natural spectacle - waterfalls. Now there always is the other end of the spectrum, like a night in a busy city like New York or something.

Some people are simply nocturnal. I find that the late night/early morning hours are when I'm most creative and enthusiastic about working on projects.

I also like to take a walk during the night. I like the darkness of the night better than the light of the day. And it is sweet when no one can see oneself, making it possible to pee in the middle of streets.

Yeah most of you live in safe places it seems.

Some neighborhoods have drive-bys in the middle of the day.

Of all the stupid things I've done in my life, peeing in the middle of the street in the wee hours of the morning is something I have not done.
I may have to try that.

I definately can't walk around in the night. This is the time I least want to be out, unless i'm with a group of friends (who are either very hard or very poular).

I must agree: Going for walks in the middle of the night is incredibly relaxing. My favorite time of the year to do it is in the summer, when it's up in the 60's during the night. It's cool, but not chilly, and it just feels so good. And then there's the fact that I can walk down the middle of the road for 10 minutes at a time, without worrying about cars.

It's also quite fun when there's an inch or more of fresh snow on the ground. Everything looks smooth and soft, and you can see that you're on of the first people there. And the light from streetlights is reflected and amplified, so everything is bathed in a soft light. Just thinking about it makes me happy, but depresses me because we so rarely get snow here anymore (curse global warming&#33.

Driving is also fun on the lesser-travelled streets. Going for a cruise without worrying about other traffic, or getting anywhere, can be relaxing. I'd probably do it fairly often if I didn't need gas.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

hey i just got back from one of those walks. And I found this huge bucket of blue paint beside a house...so now ive got a bucket of paint!

its nice exploring and questing at night, sometimes ill borrow a found bike and go for a ride or try and climb on the roof of some church or school or maybe just walk down the middle of a usually busy street...i always wish I had someone to walk with though.

i wouldn't really want to be in a group either.
most people around here walk around in groups of 4-7 during the day.
i haven't been out much at night, but i do remember one night there were at least 30 people outside at the corner of my street.
Do you know where you are?
