Okay so the rules are: If you answer a "Would you rather question" you must also provide one for another person to answer in order to keep this thread going. If you are replying to this thread, you MUST reply to the person above you. I see this thread having tons of replies already, and I want it to be the type of thread that goes on forever and ever. Pretty simple, okay let's get to it! Okay so let's say you are dying right now. (Sorry ) You've got 1 year to live. Would you rather have a brain surgery that adds an additional year on to your life (living completely pain free of course) BUT you lose the ability to lucid dream all together, OR would you rather be able to LD any time you want, but still only have a single year left to live. You'd be able to LD prior to sleeping, and REM will no longer be needed. All you'd have to do is meditate for ten minutes, and you'll instantly get transported into your very own lucid dream with ease. Soooo pick your poison

What? Infinite LD'ing that only requires you to sleep? Ok I'm sold. Would you rather watch only dramas for the rest of your life, or would you rather watch only comedies for the rest of your life?

What about dramadies? Comedies, I probably wouldn't watch as much TV, but it wouldn't be the worst thing ever. Would you rather Never be able to use a search engine again, or never be able to watch youtube again?

Never be able to watch YouTube again for sure XD Would you rather die saving 10,000 strangers from death knowing no one would ever know it was you or live knowing everyone would know you decided not to save 10,000 people’s lives?

Die saving 10,000 strangers. Living would be shit if everyone knew I valued my life over 10,000 others'. Would you rather work a mediocre job you're indifferent towards with a comfortable income (~middle class), or have your dream job that pays nothing, requiring an additional, complete shit, full-time job for at least 40 hours a week?

This question hurts me a lot. I just got fired a few weeks ago, and am being coached into finding a new career. But to answer... If I had my true "dream job", I would not need this additional job, as it would inevitably lead to wealth. Only option 2 makes sense, really. Would you rather be in a coma for exactly 50 years and awaken in perfect health, or simply die right now, painlessly?

Why are these questions so dark??? But I guess that's kinda easy, be in coma for 50 years. ( Hopefully there would be some coincidence that the 50 years was all lucid time in a dream woo! ) Would you rather travel to New Zealand for a week or travel to Somalia for a week and get 10,000 dollars/euros?

Somalia. I did some research, and the region of Somaliland is said to be quite stable - not a warzone like the rest of the country. I'll hire a guard (tourists always get a guard/guide assigned in Somalia) and hide in my hotel for a week. Who knows, maybe it'll be a cool experience. And the 10K is a nice bonus. Would you rather spend the rest of your life in the Matrix (only you know it's not real) - or come out to reality, but forced to live in what is essentially a nuclear wasteland? In option A, you don't get special treatment like Cipher did in the movie.

Hmm... infinity lucid dreams or live a fallout game. That's hard. If I can control the not real matrix and not have agent smiths after me, then I'll take that. But if the matrix is full of denizens that attack me and drag me down, then I'd take the nuclear wasteland. Would your rather live a normal life and look normal, or be immune to disease, hunger, thirst and starvation, old age, and radiation, (but can still die from physical violence) and you look like a zombie.

Hmm... infinity lucid dreams or live a fallout game. You're not Neo. The average citizen in the Matrix can't fly or do crazy shit like Neo. You'd just live out your normal life in the Matrix. OR live out your life in reality, but in a post-nuclear wasteland. To answer your question: most definitely B. I am a transhumanist, and achieving immunity from aging and disease is one of my primary goals. This would take decades if not centuries for science to achieve, and even then I could end up missing out. The way you look is entirely malleable and in time I believe you'll be able to look like whatever you want. So the only rational choice is immortality. I'll worry about the rest later. It's not like I won't have time Would you rather live on a Lunar colony, or a Martian colony?
