Thread: Health watches are a fad nowadays right?

Got a FitBit (horrible name) for Christmas and I know I'm going to feel bad about asking for the return receipt later today.

Why should I have to upload my health data to a remote server in order to access and view it?

This is a basic and natural question that I feel not enough people are asking.

Even if I wasn’t skeptical about the anonymity of aggregate data, it feels like I'm encouraging data mining on a purchased product that should've been fully offline to begin with.

Nah, I have a basic fitbit. I downloaded the app to my iPad which it syncs too. I can view results even when off-line I believe.
But unless you're really active and into that sort of thing, it's not that useful.
