Thread: Help me identify what I saw in the night sky

Hmmm.... stealth fighters flying with lights on?

If planes are high enough you normally can't hear them.

Well, it just seemed weird that they were so silent compared to how close they seemed to be. This wasn't like some tiny jet waaaay high up slowly moving aross the sky (where I still usually hear that faint roar). These were low(ish), fast, and completely silent.

Hmmm, sounds interesting, not anything i've heard of. I'm sceptic in these things, if someone says it's a UFO i won't believe it.
My guess would be somekind of an aircraft.

Technically... as of now the Flying Object is Unidentified. Would that make it an Unidentified Flying Object? (A UFO?)

Actually one really cannot tell how high up something is. Especially during the night.

Technically it sounds more like Several Unidentified Flying Objects.

Yeah, most likely a stealth aircraft or a formation of aircraft. They would only fly with their lights off if actually doing a stealth mission. Do you live near an airforce base?

Very true. All I have to go on was speed and sound...which didn't seem to match. If they were high enough that I couldn't hear them, then they were going much faster than anything I have ever witnessed before in my life.

Or do they have the ability to be completely silent. I guess that's really my big question. How quiet can they be?

Not too close. Nellis in Vegas is the closest. Their lights were actually quite dim compared to a normal plane at night....and in a triangular shape (like little V's). Does that sound familiar to anyone?

I saw something similar about... gosh... 20 some years ago... no, not that long ago, I was almost 18, so about 15 years ago

I lived in Pensacola, FL and I was somewhere on the Gulf Beach laying beneath the stars. The objects looked like stars to me at first. At first there was only one triangle, then a second and third joined. They flew in circles around each other then zoomed off in separate directions.
Pensacola is a major military area, so after dismissing the notion of aliens, I figured they were experimental air crafts.

The ones I saw made absolutely no noise. I thought they were WAY too high for that. The person I was with said they were satellites, but that doesn't seem possible.

Zhaylin--yours sound a little more interesting than mine. I know the military is working on new craft all the time. I know my area would be a perfect place to try out something new. We are super remote.

I believe most triangle shaped UFO's are just air planes. It is easy to see why it is triangle shaped, because there is a light on the front, and then each wing.

As cool as it would have been to see the TR-3B, I don't believe that was it. Mine seemed smaller and were in a group of five (maybe 7...wish I had a photographic memory). And instead of three separate lights, mine had lights that blended together in a "V" shape.

But airplanes have blinking red lights.

Stealth aircraft aren't really any quieter than normal jets. Fighter planes have dim green formation lights that they use in hostile territory to prevent smashing into each other. Not sure about the sound, was it windy? Were the lights absolutely overhead or away at an angle?

So from what you know, do you think I would have heard something if they were normal Stealth aircraft?

It wasn't windy at all. It was the perfect calm night for laying in the grass and looking at the stars. And yes, it came from directly behind me, to right above me, and then disappeared behind the roof of my house. It was a little unnerving to have them right there, and hear nothing at all.

The direction they were traveling was South to North (from Arizona into Utah).

Most likely. The "stealth" part refers to the airplane's diminished radar and infrared signature, they're not really stealthy to a pair of eyes and ears.






A formation of 5 or 7 in a v-shape is pretty strange. Usually military flights are done in twos or fours.

However, you'd be lucky to spot them with the naked eye. Whereas these things (both TwoShadow's and Zhaylin's) sound like they were much closer. And they don't fly around in circles and zoom off in opposite directions, lol

I was reading a website some time ago that claimed NASA and the USAF were developing anti-gravity engines which could account for the silence. If that's even possible, that is.
