Actually, one reason a cyclist will typically choose the road over sidewalks or ill-maintained trails is the smoother ride (hence higher speed), but those cobblestones look like a literal pain in the ass.

Not only are they opting not to use the dedicated trail, but they're going with a much worse alternative.

You can see that not the whole road is like that Just that part.

The Lake

A strangely hot week in the UK means a madly populated Brighton beach. Given my sexual abstinence, this day and its following there were pure torture.

Sort of - it's unusual for consistent hot weather around now.... so everyone goes crazy and bombs down to the beach. The beach full of bloody stones that hurt your feet... no sand. Plus, two universities in same town... so tons of young people as it is. O_O

Why not stay indoors with air-con if the heat is unbearable?

wow that's a crowded beach. I would like to visit Brighton while I'm here.. but that is like you said, the opposite side of the country for me. It's been super warm weather here as well this week, of course it would be during all my exams though.

@Carrot: I don't think England has air-con. None up north where I'm at, at least.

Rode up to the lake for sunset yesterday. It was really hazy in the west, so the sun just sort of vanished as it got close to the lake, but there was a bit of a lightshow in the east, over downtown. It's weird how the skyline and other stuff in the distance comes out so small on camera--I left out pics where you can't even see the pale sun or a lone barge sitting right on the horizon, and downtown looks about five times bigger to the eye.

I didn't notice it till you said it.

Taosaur, that is some beautiful dust. Left to my own devices, I never dust either. Most of my family is like that, actually. My grandmom tells us that if we pick something up, we have to put it back in the same position. That way there's not a large void of clean amongst the layer of dust.

England doesn't have air-con by design. Hot weather isn't consistent enough.

Yeah, it'd be a mission to get down there just for the day. Though I reckon you'd like the culture/mood there - it's very 'accommodating', in every sense.

We have air-con everywhere! Yay!

But my house doesn't have it...

No need for air conditioning when you can walk around naked.
