Thread: Interesting Hobbies

Now, I know there have been threads here about hobbies before. One was asking people what their hobbies are, another was asking about what hobby a person should pursue. But I'd like to do something a little bit different.

Do any of you know anybody who has a hobby that you find unusual or interesting? Have you heard of a hobby that you didn't even think was a hobby before?


I know a guy whose hobby is shaving. I always thought shaving was just a part of life, a chore, but for people like him, it's a pastime. There are shaving forums.

I've also been reading about Aquarium Aquascaping. Most people who own aquariums keep them for the sake of having some fish, and they decorate their tanks with silly plastic doodads and brightly colored pebbles. If they even think about including plants, they usually will go for plastic or silk. But an aquarium can combine nature and personal expression to create art. Planted tanks can be beautiful and amazing.

So I'd like this thread to be about the unusual hobbies out there. Whether you know someone personally whose life revolves around a strange activity, or you just found out about this recently while wandering the Internet, I would love to learn about it. Please post it here, and if you can, post a link that can provide more information on the subject. (forgive me if this is in the wrong forum--this is my first thread)

You mentioned shaving, and I actually do straight razor shaving. It's a super close shave, but I got out of practice.

As mentioned before, I can pick locks, and that is pretty neat.

I am in the process of learning German again, then I plan to tackle Japanese.

Finally, never forget how unique lucid dreaming is outside of this community.

I walk around in town and show people a special shaped key and say : "This is the key to your heart".

Also, I collect soul fragments from people. Usually in the night.

Take up wine-making. As hard as you want it to be and it's rewarding.
