I think we should ignore all gay people completely in society. Not gay rights, and I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. However, I think we should vote in our states on the gay rights issue. What is wrong with applying "don't ask, don't tell" to all of our society? If I was gay that's what I would want. You don't want to be free to hold hands or kiss the one you love, without the fear of people beating you up/killing you? You don't see the problem in not being able to freely express who you are?

That would be equivalent to telling racial minorities that they have to have a surgery done to make them appear caucasian, and they're not allowed to tell anyone that they're not.

Expressing yourself to the people around you. We constantly do that. Nearly everything we do is influenced by how we express our selves. Additionally, if I want to show my partner that I love him/her, I'd like to think that I'm doing this without running the risk of people yelling at us. Denmark is nice, but the reality is that LGBT still have trouble, even here.
